Balthazar Getty

Paul Balthazar Getty is an American actor, musician, DJ, and member of the Getty family. He was born on January 22, 1975, in Tarzana, California, and was raised in San Francisco before continuing his education in Scotland at Gordonstoun in the United Kingdom. He is the son of John Paul Getty III and Gisela Getty, a German-born professional photographer and documentary filmmaker. Through his father, he is a descendant of Sir John Paul Getty and J. Paul Getty, the founder of Getty Oil and namesake of the Getty Center museum. His parents divorced in 1993, and he has a half-sister, Anna Getty, who was adopted by his father.

Getty began his acting career at the age of 12 in 1987 after being spotted by casting director Robin Joy Allan in his school art class. He auditioned for and secured his acting debut as Ralph in the 1990 film adaptation of Lord of the Flies. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared in numerous feature films, including Young Guns II, Natural Born Killers, Judge Dredd, Mr. Holland's Opus, White Squall, Lost Highway, Big City Blues, The Center of the World, Deuces Wild, Ladder 49, Numb3rs, and Feast, as well as the television miniseries Traffic.

On television, Getty featured in several notable recurring and regular roles. He guest-starred as the male witch Richard Montana on Charmed from 2003 to 2004, and portrayed Agent Thomas Grace during the fifth season of the action drama Alias from 2005 to 2006. Beginning in September 2006, he starred as Tommy Walker, the third-born of five siblings, on the ABC drama Brothers & Sisters alongside Ron Rifkin. Although media reports in late 2008 noted his contract as a full-time regular would not be renewed, he continued making appearances on the show until its eventual cancellation.

In addition to acting, Getty began DJing and producing electronic music at age 15. As a musical artist, he is a member of the indie rock and electronic band Ringside and serves as the producer for the hip-hop duo The Wow. In 2013, he operated a record label named Purplehaus Records and established Purplehaus Productions, located in the Fairfax and Melrose district of Los Angeles.

Getty married fashion designer Rosetta Millington in 2000, and the couple has five children: daughters Grace, Violet Leigh, and June Catherine, and sons Cassius Paul and Wolfgang Israel. Outside of his entertainment career, Getty serves on the board of directors for The Lunchbox Fund, a non-profit organization that provides daily meals to township school students in Soweto, South Africa.
