About Todd Stashwick
Todd Stashwick is an American performer who has built a career across television, film, improv comedy, and creative writing. He has achieved widespread recognition for his portrayals of Dale Malloy in the drama series The Riches, Theodore Deacon in the science-fiction show 12 Monkeys, and Dr. Drakken in the live-action movie Kim Possible. He also gained acclaim for playing Captain Liam Shaw during the third season of Star Trek: Picard.
Born in Chicago at Swedish Covenant Hospital, Stashwick grew up in the nearby suburban area. From an early age, he enjoyed comedy and set a personal goal to join Chicago's famous comedy troupe, The Second City. He attended Illinois State University, earning a degree in theater studies. Following his graduation, he participated in local improvisational theater before achieving his ambition in 1992, when he was selected to tour nationally with The Second City. He later performed with their Detroit and Northwest branches before moving to New York, where he auditioned for Saturday Night Live during the same period David Koechner was added to the cast.
Stashwick subsequently relocated to Los Angeles as television and film opportunities expanded. He secured roles in a variety of television pilots and earned recurring parts on programs such as MDs, American Dreams, Rodney, and Still Standing. A major breakthrough occurred when he landed a featured supporting role as the deceitful cousin of Minnie Driver's character in The Riches, a part he played until the show ended in September 2008.
Throughout the 2010s and beyond, Stashwick continued to land high-profile screen projects. In May 2018, he joined the cast of the Disney Channel original movie Kim Possible, adapted from the popular animated series, portraying the villainous Dr. Drakken prior to its release in February 2019. In September 2020, he took part in a virtual fundraising marathon for The George Lucas Talk Show centered on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
In addition to acting, Stashwick works as a writer and content creator across multiple mediums. Alongside artist Dennis Calero, whom he met after Calero drew his character from the series Heroes, he created the weekly web comic Devil Inside, which debuted at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con. The duo also partnered with the Syfy channel to co-write and co-executive produce Clandestine, a space adventure pilot script supervised by John Shiban. Outside of television and comics, Stashwick partnered with game designer Amy Hennig to co-write a Star Wars video game project for Electronic Arts and Visceral Games, though production was ultimately halted.
