Gary Anthony Williams

Gary Anthony Williams is an American actor, comedian, and filmmaker known for his extensive work in television, film, voice acting, and improvisational comedy. He gained prominence voicing notable animated characters, including Uncle Ruckus on The Boondocks and Anton "Bebop" Zeck in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. In addition to his voice projects, he is widely recognized for his live-action television roles on series such as Boston Legal, Malcolm in the Middle, I'm Sorry, and The Soul Man.

Born on March 14, 1966, in Fayetteville, Georgia, Williams began his artistic career in nearby Atlanta. His early regional work encompassed theater, comedy, and television, including stage performances with the Georgia Shakespeare Festival as well as writing and acting for Agatha's: A Taste of Mystery. He was a longtime member of the Atlanta improvisational troupe Laughing Matters and secured recurring roles in Atlanta-based television series such as I'll Fly Away and In the Heat of the Night before relocating to Los Angeles in 1998.

Williams established a varied television career following his move. He portrayed Abe Kenarban on the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, later reprising the role in Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair, and worked as Judge Trudy's Bailiff on The Amanda Show. He was a series regular on the sketch comedy show Blue Collar TV and played Clarence Bell, a shy lawyer who expresses himself through different alter egos, on Boston Legal. His television credits also include guest and recurring roles on NYPD Blue, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Weeds, Workaholics, Hot in Cleveland, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

As a voice actor, Williams has contributed to numerous animated series and television specials. On Adult Swim, his work has included Saul of the Molemen, Stroker and Hoop, The Young Person's Guide to History, and serving as the announcer for The Eric Andre Show. He voiced Mongul in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Thunderball in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Riff Tamson in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He has also voiced characters for children's programs such as Doc McStuffins, Sheriff Callie's Wild West, Puppy Dog Pals, and The Lion Guard, along with roles in China, IL, Mad, and Hailey's On It!.

In feature films, Williams played Smart Brother in Undercover Brother after previously voicing the character in its original web animation. His live-action film credits include Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Soul Plane, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, The Factory, and House Party: Tonight's the Night. He has also provided voice work for films such as The Trumpet of the Swan, Truth or Dare, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, and served as the narrator for the documentary Ayn Rand and the Prophecy of Atlas Shrugged.

Williams remains active in improvisational comedy, having performed with the Flying Fannoli Brothers, in Groundlings Theatre productions like Cookin' With Gas and The Black Version, and as a recurring cast member on Whose Line Is It Anyway?. His voice acting extends to video games such as Mass Effect, Alpha Protocol, XCOM 2, and StarCraft II. Additionally, he co-founded the L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival and has one son.
