Born on March 14, 1966, in Fayetteville, Georgia, Williams began his artistic career in nearby Atlanta. He was a longtime member of the Atlanta improvisational troupe Laughing Matters and secured recurring roles in Atlanta-based television series such as I'll Fly Away and In the Heat of the Night before relocating to Los Angeles in 1998.
Williams established a varied television career following his move. He portrayed Abe Kenarban on the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, later reprising the role in Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair, and worked as Judge Trudy's Bailiff on The Amanda Show. He was a series regular on the sketch comedy show Blue Collar TV and played Clarence Bell, a shy lawyer who expresses himself through different alter egos, on Boston Legal. His television credits also include guest and recurring roles on NYPD Blue, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Weeds, Workaholics, Hot in Cleveland, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
As a voice actor, Williams has contributed to numerous animated series and television specials. On Adult Swim, his work has included Saul of the Molemen, Stroker and Hoop, The Young Person's Guide to History, and serving as the announcer for The Eric Andre Show. He voiced Mongul in Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Thunderball in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Riff Tamson in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
