Wendie Malick

Wendie Malick is an American actress and former fashion model known for her roles across numerous television comedies, films, and animated projects. Since beginning her screen career in the 1970s, she has accumulated more than 200 film and television credits. She gained wide recognition starring as Judith Tupper Stone in the HBO sitcom Dream On and as former supermodel Nina Van Horn in the NBC sitcom Just Shoot Me!, a role that earned her nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award. Born in Buffalo, New York, Malick is the daughter of Gigi, a former model, and Kenneth Malick, who worked in sales. Her ancestry includes Egyptian, French, German, and English heritage. She graduated from Williamsville South High School in 1968 and later attended Ohio Wesleyan University, graduating in 1972. She also studied performing arts at the William Esper Studio in Manhattan. After college, Malick modeled for the Wilhelmina modeling agency before working for Congressman Jack Kemp in D.C. She soon left to pursue an acting career, making early appearances on stage, screen, and television shows such as How to Pick Up Girls!, Love of Life, and Saturday Night Live. Through the 1980s, she landed roles in Trauma Center, Kate & Allie, the pilot film for Baywatch, and the 1988 feature film Scrooged. Malick's breakthrough came with her starring role on Dream On from 1990 to 1996, which won her four CableACE Awards. Following this, she spent six seasons on Just Shoot Me! from 1997 to 2003. She subsequently joined the final season of Frasier as Ronee Lawrence and appeared in series like Jake in Progress and Big Day. From 2010 to 2015, she starred as soap opera star Victoria Chase on the TV Land comedy Hot in Cleveland, earning a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination alongside the ensemble cast. In feature films, Malick has appeared in titles such as The American President, Waiting..., Confessions of a Shopaholic, Endings, Beginnings, and About Fate. As a voice actress, her credits include Chicha in Disney's The Emperor's New Groove, Burdine Maxwell in Bratz, Beatrice Horseman in Netflix's BoJack Horseman—which earned her an Annie Award nomination—and Eda Clawthorne in Disney Channel's The Owl House. Alongside guest appearances on shows such as Seinfeld, The X-Files, and Law & Order, Malick's later work includes recurring roles on American Housewife, The Ranch, Young Sheldon, and Shrinking, as well as regular roles on Rush Hour, Night Court, and The Chicken Sisters.
