David Arquette

David Arquette is an American actor, producer, and retired professional wrestler. He began his acting career in television, making his debut with main roles on series such as The Outsiders and Parenthood, before making his feature film debut in 1992. Arquette achieved widespread recognition for his breakout performance as Dewey Riley in the 1996 horror film Scream, a role he subsequently reprised in five sequels spanning across several decades.

Arquette was born on a Subud commune in Bentonville, Virginia, into a family of performers. His mother was an actress, burlesque dancer, therapist, and activist, while his father was an actor and puppeteer. He is the youngest of five siblings who all pursued acting careers. On his mother's side, he comes from a Polish-Jewish background, while his father's ancestry includes French-Canadian heritage and distant relations to explorer Meriwether Lewis.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Arquette appeared in numerous feature films and television projects. Following his success in Scream, he landed starring roles in films such as Dream with the Fishes, Ravenous, Never Been Kissed, Ready to Rumble, and See Spot Run. He made his directorial debut with the 2007 horror film The Tripper and starred in television series including In Case of Emergency, Dream School, and a reboot of Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. His later screen credits include the films Just Before I Go, Bone Tomahawk, Spree, 12 Hour Shift, and the 2020 documentary You Cannot Kill David Arquette.

In addition to acting, Arquette has engaged in several business and musical pursuits. He co-founded the production company Coquette with his former wife Courteney Cox, producing television series such as Dirt and Cougar Town. He co-created the clothing line Propr Collection and was a part owner of the Los Angeles nightclub Bootsy Bellows. In music, Arquette performed in the hip hop and rock group Ear2000, which contributed to the Scream soundtrack, and later recorded with the band Red Museum. In 2021, he purchased the rights to Bozo the Clown with plans to revive the character.

Arquette gained significant attention for his involvement in professional wrestling. In 2000, while promoting Ready to Rumble, he participated in World Championship Wrestling storylines and won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, holding the title for 12 days. Although his reign was heavily criticized by fans and commentators, Arquette donated all of his wrestling earnings to the families of deceased or injured wrestlers. He returned to independent wrestling in 2018, competing in various matches before officially retiring from the sport in 2021.

Arquette was married to actress Courteney Cox from 1999 until their divorce was finalized in 2013, and the couple shares one daughter. In 2015, he married Entertainment Tonight correspondent Christina McLarty, with whom he has two sons. Outside of his career, Arquette has spoken about seeking treatment for alcohol dependency and celebrated a belated Bar Mitzvah in Israel in 2012.
