Deborah Ann Woll

Deborah Ann Woll is an American actress known for her performances in television, film, video games, and tabletop gaming web series. She achieved widespread recognition for starring as Jessica Hamby in the HBO fantasy drama series True Blood and portraying Karen Page across multiple projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Daredevil. Beyond screen acting, she is prominent within the tabletop role-playing game community as a Dungeon Master, writer, and show creator.

Woll was born on February 7, 1985, in Brooklyn, New York City, to an architect father and a teacher mother. She is of German and Irish descent. She attended the Packer Collegiate Institute before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the USC School of Theatre in 2007, and also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

She began her career with guest roles on several television series, including Life, ER, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, My Name Is Earl, and The Mentalist, as well as the television film Aces 'N' Eights. Woll gained her breakout role in 2008 when she was cast as vampire progeny Jessica Hamby in True Blood. Originally joining in a recurring capacity, she was promoted to the main cast for the second season and stayed with the show through its 2014 finale. Her work on the series earned her a Satellite Award for Best Cast and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for drama ensemble performance.

In 2015, Woll debuted as Karen Page in Daredevil, earning a Saturn Award nomination for her performance. She reprised the character in related series such as The Defenders, The Punisher, and Daredevil: Born Again. Her feature film appearances include Mother's Day, Seven Days in Utopia, Catch .44, Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You, Ruby Sparks, The Automatic Hate, Escape Room, and its sequel Escape Room: Tournament of Champions. Her theatrical work includes roles in stage productions of Parfumerie, The Taming of the Shrew, and Angels in America: Millennium Approaches.

Woll expanded into interactive media by providing the voice and motion capture for Faye in the video game God of War Ragnarök, a role set to continue in God of War Laufey. As an active figure in tabletop gaming, she has appeared on shows like Force Grey and Critical Role, and created and hosted actual play series including Relics and Rarities, Children of Éarte, and Tales From Woodcreek. She has also written a Dungeons & Dragons module and served as a consultant for the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide.

Woll married E. J. Scott in December 2018 after dating since 2007. She utilizes her public profile to increase awareness for choroideremia, a vision-impairing condition her husband has, and has also spoken about managing her own diagnosis of celiac disease.
