Amy Sedaris

Amy Louise Sedaris is an American actress, comedian, and writer. She is widely known for her portrayal of Jerri Blank in the Comedy Central comedy series Strangers with Candy and its 2005 prequel film, which she co-wrote. Her prominent work includes voicing Princess Carolyn in the Netflix animated series BoJack Horseman and starring as Mimi Kanasis in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She is also recognized as the creator and star of the TruTV series At Home with Amy Sedaris and for playing Peli Motto in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

Sedaris was born in Endicott, New York, into a Greek Orthodox family, and grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, as one of six children. She attended Jesse O. Sanderson High School and was involved in the Girl Scouts. As a young adult, she moved to Chicago with her brother David, taking classes at Second City and the Annoyance Theatre while working as a waitress at Zanies Comedy Club. In the late 1980s, she joined Second City's touring company, where she met long-term collaborators Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert.

After moving to New York City in 1993, Sedaris made her initial major television appearance in the Comedy Central sketch series Exit 57 in 1995. She followed this with Strangers with Candy, which she co-created with Colbert and Dinello. Over her career, she appeared in guest roles on series such as Sex and the City, Monk, and Raising Hope, and voiced characters in animated series including SpongeBob SquarePants and Star vs. the Forces of Evil. She also held roles in live-action series like The Heart, She Holler, Alpha House, Broad City, and No Activity.

In film, Sedaris starred in the feature adaptation of Strangers with Candy and had supporting or voice roles in projects including Maid in Manhattan, Elf, Bewitched, Chicken Little, Shrek the Third, Jennifer's Body, Puss in Boots, Chef, The Lion King, The Boss Baby: Family Business, and Smurfs. Additionally, she has worked in theater, co-writing plays with her brother under the name "The Talent Family" and appearing in off-Broadway productions.

Sedaris is also an author, having co-authored the text-and-picture novel Wigfield and written the lifestyle books I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence and Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People!. Across her career, she earned two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series for At Home with Amy Sedaris, a Drama Desk Award nomination for her performance in the play The Country Club, and a CableACE Award nomination for Exit 57.
