Mandy Moore

Amanda Leigh Moore (born April 10, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She rose to fame with her 1999 debut single "Candy" and her platinum-certified debut studio album So Real (1999). Over her career, she has established a successful path in both music and screen acting. She received widespread recognition for starring in the romantic drama film A Walk to Remember (2002) and for her portrayal of Rebecca Pearson in the NBC family drama series This Is Us from 2016 to 2022.

Moore was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, to Stacy, a former news reporter, and Donald Moore, an American Airlines pilot. She is of Irish, English, and Russian-Jewish descent and grew up alongside two brothers. When she was two months old, her family relocated to Longwood, Florida. Moore discovered her passion for singing and performing while attending the Park Maitland School, later attending Bishop Moore Catholic High School. Inspired in part by her maternal grandmother, a professional ballerina, she began performing in local stage productions. At age thirteen, she was overheard while recording in an Orlando studio, leading to a recording contract with Epic Records.

After signing her record deal, Moore toured with boy bands such as NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys. Her debut single, "Candy", peaked at number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a gold certification from the RIAA. Her debut album, So Real, peaked at number 31 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. In 2000, she released the reissue album I Wanna Be With You, which earned her a Kids' Choice Award. Its title track became her first top 40 single, peaking at number 24. Around this time, Moore also hosted shows and served as a VJ on MTV.

Moore began expanding into acting and adjusting her musical sound in 2001. That year, she released her self-titled second album, Mandy Moore, made her film debut voicing a role in Dr. Dolittle 2, and co-starred in the comedy The Princess Diaries. In 2002, she landed her breakout starring film role in A Walk to Remember. She followed this with her 2003 covers album Coverage, as well as starring roles in the feature films How to Deal (2003) and Chasing Liberty (2004).

Following her departure from Epic Records in 2004 due to creative differences, Moore released the compilation album The Best of Mandy Moore. She continued her recording career with subsequent studio albums, including Wild Hope (2007), Amanda Leigh (2009), Silver Landings (2020), and In Real Life (2022). Her extensive filmography includes Saved! (2004), Racing Stripes (2005), Because I Said So (2007), License to Wed (2007), Love, Wedding, Marriage (2011), 47 Meters Down (2017), The Darkest Minds (2018), and Midway (2019). In 2010, she voiced the character Rapunzel in the Disney animated musical Tangled.

From 2016 to 2022, Moore starred as Rebecca Pearson in the critically acclaimed series This Is Us, receiving nominations for both a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award for her performance. In 2019, her contributions to the entertainment industry were recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
