Emma Stone

Emily Jean "Emma" Stone is an American actress and film producer. Born on November 6, 1988, in Scottsdale, Arizona, she is known for her work in major studio feature films, independent projects, and stage productions. Over her career, she has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Volpi Cup, along with a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. In 2017, she was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine and was recognized as the world's highest-paid actress.

Stone spent her early years in Arizona, where she began acting in local theater productions at the age of 11. She attended Sequoya Elementary School and Cocopah Middle School before briefly attending Xavier College Preparatory. At age 15, she relocated to Los Angeles with her mother to pursue a professional acting career. Her early screen appearances included the 2004 reality competition show In Search of the New Partridge Family and small television roles on series such as Medium, Malcolm in the Middle, and Drive.

Stone made her feature film debut in the 2007 comedy Superbad. She followed this with appearances in The Rocker (2008), The House Bunny (2008), Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009), and Zombieland (2009). Her breakthrough role came in the 2010 teen comedy Easy A, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination and a nomination for the BAFTA Rising Star Award. She achieved further mainstream recognition through major roles in the romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), the period drama The Help (2011), and as Gwen Stacy in the superhero films The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and its sequel.

As her career progressed into dramatic and experimental roles, Stone earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Birdman (2014). That same year, she made her Broadway debut starring as Sally Bowles in a revival of Cabaret. She earned her first Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of an aspiring actress in the musical drama La La Land (2016). Her other prominent film roles during this period included tennis player Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes (2017), Abigail Hill in The Favourite (2018), and the title character in Cruella (2021).

Stone's work with filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos began with The Favourite and continued with Poor Things (2023), for which she won her second Academy Award for Best Actress and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture as a producer. She later collaborated with Lanthimos on Kinds of Kindness (2024) and Bugonia (2025). Her work on Bugonia resulted in additional Academy Award nominations for Best Actress and Best Picture, making her the first woman to be nominated as both a producer and an actress for two separate films. On television, she led the miniseries Maniac (2018) and The Curse (2023). In 2020, Stone and her husband Dave McCary founded the production company Fruit Tree.
