Fergie

Stacy Ann "Fergie" Ferguson, born March 27, 1975, is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman. She first gained recognition as a child performer in the 1980s before achieving international fame as a member of the hip hop and pop group the Black Eyed Peas from 2002 to 2018. Alongside her group work, she established a successful solo music career, appeared in several television and film projects, and launched multiple commercial ventures.

Ferguson was born in Hacienda Heights, California, a suburb of Los Angeles, to parents Terri and Jon Patrick Ferguson. Raised Catholic alongside her younger sister Dana, her heritage includes English, Irish, Mexican, and Scottish roots. She attended Mesa Robles Middle School and Glen A. Wilson High School, where she participated as a cheerleader, straight-A student, spelling bee champion, and Girl Scout.

Fergie began her career studying dance and performing voiceover work, including voicing Sally Brown in Peanuts television specials and on The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show. From 1984 to 1989, she starred on the children's television series Kids Incorporated, becoming its longest-running cast member. In the 1990s, she co-founded the female music group Wild Orchid with Stefanie Ridel and Renee Sandstrom. The trio signed with RCA Records and released two albums, a self-titled debut in 1997 and Oxygen in 1998, before Fergie left the group in 2001 due to personal drug problems and frustrations with the band's image.

In 2002, Fergie joined the Black Eyed Peas during the recording of their third album, Elephunk (2003), and was soon invited to become a permanent member. The album featured hit singles such as "Where Is the Love?", "Shut Up", and "Hey Mama". The group followed this with Monkey Business in 2005, which debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 and spawned successful tracks including "Don't Phunk with My Heart", "Don't Lie", "My Humps", and "Pump It".

In September 2006, Fergie released her debut solo album, The Dutchess, which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. The record produced three Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles—"London Bridge", "Glamorous", and "Big Girls Don't Cry"—alongside top-five singles "Fergalicious" and "Clumsy". She released her second solo studio album, Double Dutchess, in 2017, accompanied by a visual film subtitled Seeing Double, which spawned the top-40 singles "L.A. Love (La La)" and "M.I.L.F. $".

Fergie continued recording with the Black Eyed Peas on albums including The E.N.D. (2009)—which produced chart-topping singles such as "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling"—and The Beginning (2010). Parallel to her music career, she expanded her acting work with roles in films including Poseidon (2006), Grindhouse (2007), Nine (2009), and Marmaduke (2010). Her business projects include launching the Avon fragrance Outspoken in 2010, releasing additional fragrances and footwear lines, holding an ownership stake in the Miami Dolphins football team, and hosting the reality series The Four: Battle for Stardom starting in 2018.

Fergie has sold over 30 million records in the United States alone. Her accolades include eight Grammy Awards and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as part of the ensemble cast of Nine. Billboard named her Woman of the Year in 2010 and listed her among the top female artists of the 2000s decade and the 21st century.
