Damon Herriman

Damon Herriman is an Australian actor best known for his role as Dewey Crowe in the crime series Justified and Romeo in the drama miniseries Flesh and Bone. He achieved further recognition for portraying cult leader Charles Manson in both the series Mindhunter and the film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. For his performance in Judy and Punch, he earned the AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

Herriman was born in Adelaide, South Australia, to parents Noel and Margaret. His family briefly relocated to Alice Springs for his father's job as an insurance manager, during which Herriman and his father booked a radio commercial together. After his parents separated, he was raised in Adelaide with his father and brother, attending Marden High School. Following advice from director Peter Weir, Herriman acquired an agent and began acting in television commercials as a child.

At age ten, Herriman joined the cast of the drama series The Sullivans, receiving three Logie Award nominations over a two-year period. He subsequently worked on television projects such as The Patchwork Hero, Sara Dane, and For The Term of His Natural Life. As a teenager, Herriman worked as an insurance clerk before returning to creative work full-time at age 27, writing plays, producing short films, and securing a key role in the Australian series Love My Way. His performance in the 2005 horror film House of Wax helped facilitate further opportunities in American television and film.

Herriman achieved a major career breakthrough when cast as Dewey Crowe in Justified in 2010. His subsequent credits included roles in J. Edgar, Breaking Bad, The Lone Ranger, and The Water Diviner. In Australia, he appeared in the series Secret City, winning a Logie Award, and played the lead role in the civil rights television movie Riot, which earned him an AACTA Award. He also featured in the series Mr Inbetween and the thriller film The Nightingale.

In 2019, Herriman played Charles Manson in both Mindhunter and Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. That same year, his starring role in the film Judy and Punch won him Best Actor at both the AACTA Awards and the Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards. He also appeared in Perpetual Grace, LTD and Lambs of God.

In later years, Herriman voiced Kabal in Mortal Kombat and performed in miniseries such as The Serpent, Ultra City Smiths, and The Underground Railroad. He subsequently starred in The Tourist, Thai Cave Rescue, and The Artful Dodger, alongside film roles in Run Rabbit Run and The Bikeriders. His subsequent projects included the films Better Man, How to Make Gravy, Together, and The Fox, as well as the series The Bondsman, a national Australian stage tour of the play Art, and an upcoming role in the film Subversion.
