Isabel Lucas

Isabel Lucas is an Australian actress, environmentalist, and model born on 29 January 1985. She is best known for her television and film roles, including portraying Tasha Andrews in the Australian soap opera Home and Away, as well as appearing in feature films such as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Daybreakers, Immortals, The Water Diviner, and Knight of Cups. She has also starred in international television projects and featured in music videos.

Lucas was born in Melbourne, Australia, to Andrew, an Australian biodynamic farmer and retired pilot, and Beatrice, a Swiss special education teacher. She grew up living in various locations, including Cairns in Queensland, Lucerne in Switzerland, and Kakadu in Australia's Northern Territory. Raised on a farm, she learned to ride horses at age ten and competed in dressage and show jumping with her older sister. Lucas speaks English, French, and Swiss-German, and she attended St. Monica's College in Cairns.

Lucas was involved in drama during her school years and attended courses at the Victorian College of Arts and Queensland University of Technology. In 2002, her agent arranged a meeting in Port Douglas, leading to an audition for Home and Away. Although she originally auditioned for the role of Kit Hunter, producer Julie McGauran had the new character of Tasha Andrews created specifically for her. Lucas appeared on the show from 2003 to 2006 before relocating to Los Angeles in 2008 to further pursue acting.

While working on the miniseries The Pacific, executive producer Steven Spielberg suggested Lucas for the role of Alice in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Her performance earned her the award for Best Breakout Performance Female at the 2009 Scream Awards. Following this breakthrough, Lucas joined several film projects, including the vampire thriller Daybreakers, the romantic film The Waiting City, the fantasy film Immortals, and the remake of Red Dawn. In 2011, she won a Young Hollywood Award for Female Star of Tomorrow, and in 2012, she starred in Ed Sheeran's music video for Give Me Love.

In subsequent years, Lucas appeared in films such as Careful What You Wish For, Knight of Cups, and the documentary That Sugar Film. She joined the cast of the American television series MacGyver as Samantha Cage from 2017 to 2018. Returning to Australia to focus on local film productions and live closer to her family, she settled permanently in Byron Bay. Her later credits include That's Not Me, In Like Flynn, Chasing Comets, Shooting in Vain, Bosch & Rockit, and the 2023 crime-action film Sons of Summer.

Alongside her acting career, Lucas is an animal lover and vegetarian who has engaged in various environmental and humanitarian initiatives. In 2007, she participated in a protest against dolphin culling in Taiji, Japan, with Surfers for Cetaceans, resulting in an outstanding arrest warrant in Japan. In 2010, she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness for the global clean water crisis. She has also supported organizations including the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation, World Vision, Oxfam, and Sea Shepherd.
