Early Life and Pre-Debut
Born in South Korea, Bang Chan was raised in Sydney, Australia, where he attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts. In 2010, at age 13, he passed an audition for JYP Entertainment in Australia and moved to South Korea to become a trainee. Over seven years of training, he developed skills in singing, dancing, and music composition. In 2016, he formed the hip-hop production unit 3RACHA under the alias CB97, releasing self-produced tracks online prior to his official group debut.
Career with Stray Kids
In 2017, Bang Chan participated in Mnet's reality show Stray Kids, personally helping select the trainee lineup that formed the group. Stray Kids debuted officially in March 2018 with the extended play I am NOT. As leader, Bang Chan led the group to major international prominence, earning multiple number-one entries on the Billboard 200 chart with releases such as ODDINARY, MAXIDENT, and 5-STAR. His leadership and hands-on musical contributions established Stray Kids as a self-producing K-pop group.
