Heeseung

Lee Hee-seung, known professionally as Evan and formerly as Heeseung, is a South Korean singer and songwriter. He initially gained recognition as a member of the South Korean boy band Enhypen, which was formed through the 2020 reality competition show I-Land. After departing from the group in 2026, he launched a solo career under Belift Lab, releasing his debut single and his first extended play later that year.

Lee was born on October 15, 2001, in Uiwang, Gyeonggi, South Korea, and was raised in Namyangju alongside an older brother. As a child, his hobbies included soccer and illustration, and he acquired the English name Evan while spending time overseas. In fourth grade, he was diagnosed with lymphoma, a form of blood cancer. He was scouted by Big Hit Entertainment as a trainee in 2017 during an entrance exam at Hanlim Arts School. He later completed his high school education at Gwangnam High School in Seoul and studied at Global Cyber University.

In 2020, Lee competed under his birth name Heeseung on I-Land, finishing in fifth place to secure a spot in Enhypen. The group debuted on November 30, 2020, with the extended play Border: Day One. In May 2022, he released a cover of Justin Bieber's "Off My Face" and appeared on the show LeeMujin Service. Later that year, he performed the soundtrack song "Zero Moment" with bandmates Jay and Jake for the drama Summer Strike. He also co-wrote and produced the track "Highway 1009" for Enhypen's 2024 album Romance: Untold.

In January 2025, Lee featured on Flo Rida's single "Confessions" alongside Jake and Paul Russell. Early the following year, he co-wrote the track "Sleep Tight" for Enhypen's extended play The Sin: Vanish. Belift Lab announced on March 10, 2026, that he would leave Enhypen to pursue a solo career while remaining signed to the label. Following a fan-led petition that surpassed one million signatures, the agency confirmed he would not rejoin the group. In April 2026, he officially adopted his childhood name Evan as his stage name.

Evan officially made his solo debut on June 22, 2026, with the digital single "Ride or Die" and the B-side track "Overflow." The lead single featured alternative rock, grunge, and punk influences, while the B-side was an indie pop track. In August 2026, he performed at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles and at KCON LA at the Crypto.com Arena, marking his first major overseas stage performances as a solo artist.

On September 7, 2026, Evan released his first extended play, Death of Me, which sold over 460,000 copies on its first day. The eight-track EP spanned genres including pop, R&B, alternative rock, UK garage, indie pop, and dream pop. Beyond his music releases, he won the fan-voted UPick Global Choice category at the D Awards in January 2026, featured on the cover of W Korea with Pomellato in February 2025, and became an ambassador for the contact lens brand Qrsessed in November 2025.
