Joy

Park Soo-young, known professionally by her stage name Joy, is a South Korean singer and actress. Born on September 3, 1996, in Jeju Province, South Korea, she was raised in Seoul and developed an interest in performing arts during her childhood. After auditioning successfully for SM Entertainment in 2012, she trained with the agency before making her public debut in August 2014 as a member of the South Korean girl group Red Velvet with the single Happiness.

Within Red Velvet, Joy contributes as a vocalist and rapper, participating in numerous successful releases that achieved top positions on Korean and global music charts. Beyond group projects, she expanded her musical catalog with contributions to several television show soundtracks. In May 2021, she officially launched her solo singing career with the release of the special remake album Hello, which featured modern interpretations of classic Korean tracks and garnered widespread positive reception.

Joy has built a prominent acting career alongside her musical work. She made her television acting debut in 2017 with a starring role in the musical drama series The Liar and His Lover. Her performance led to further lead roles in television productions, including the drama series Tempted in 2018, the emotional drama The One and Only in 2021, and the romantic comedy series Once Upon a Small Town in 2022.

In addition to music and drama, Joy has frequently appeared on South Korean television as a variety show host and cast member, notably participating in popular reality and broadcast entertainment shows. She continues to engage in recording projects, public appearances, brand endorsements, and acting roles within the South Korean media industry.
