Joy

Park Soo-young, better known by her stage name Joy, is a South Korean singer, actress, and host. Born on September 3, 1996, on Jeju Island and raised in Dobong, Seoul, she is the eldest of three sisters. She gained an interest in modern trot music as a child and was motivated to become a singer after performing Cherry Filter's "Flying Duck" at a grade school festival. She joined SM Entertainment after passing the SM Global Audition in Seoul in 2012.

After two years of training, Joy was officially introduced as the fourth member of the South Korean girl group Red Velvet in July 2014. The group made their official debut in August 2014 with the digital single "Happiness." Red Velvet established widespread popularity, appearing on the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list in 2018 and 2019.

Joy launched her solo television career in 2015 on the variety show We Got Married, winning the New Star Award and Best Couple Award at the 2015 MBC Entertainment Awards alongside Yook Sung-jae. She made her acting debut in 2017 as the female lead in tvN's drama The Liar and His Lover, earning the Newcomer Award at the OSEN Cable TV Awards and contributing several soundtrack tracks. She subsequently co-hosted television programs such as Sugar Man, Pajama Friends, and Get It Beauty, and served as team manager on Handsome Tigers.

Joy's acting roles continued with starring parts in Tempted (2018), The One and Only (2021), and Once Upon a Small Town (2022). In March 2020, her soundtrack release "Introduce Me a Good Person" achieved platinum streaming certification from the KMCA. She officially debuted as a solo musician in May 2021 with the release of her remake extended play Hello, which earned a nomination for Album of the Year Daesang at the 2021 Melon Music Awards.

Joy renewed her contract with SM Entertainment in January 2025 and released her EP From Joy, with Love in August 2025. She held her first fanmeeting in October 2025 and announced her Joy Splash Asia tour for February 2026. Her additional projects include joining the cast of I Live Alone, being cast as the lead in One-of-a-Kind Romance, and providing main voice acting for the Korean release of the animated film Stitch Head.

Joy graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul in February 2015. She has been in a relationship with R&B singer Crush since 2021. Outside of her artistic pursuits, Joy has participated in philanthropic initiatives for COVID-19 relief and UNICEF Korea, and has endorsed international and domestic brands including Tod's, Calvin Klein, and Fresh Beauty.
