Born on May 6, 1991, in Seoul, Ahn is the older of two daughters in her family. She spent her early school years at Hakdong Elementary School, where co-hosting a local church gathering ignited her interest in the performing arts and prompted her to write down a goal of becoming an entertainer. Throughout her middle and high school years, she regularly participated in school festivals by singing and dancing. Following her high school graduation, she enrolled at the Korea National University of Arts as part of the Class of 2010, studying alongside notable contemporaries such as Kim Go-eun, Lee Yoo-young, Park So-dam, Lee Sang-yi, Kim Sung-cheol, Cha Seo-won, and Lee Hwi-jong.
Ahn began her professional acting career while still attending university, debuting in the 2012 stage musical The Sorrows of Young Werther. In 2015, she appeared in the play The Story of Tail Cotton, directed by professor Yi Sang-woo for the twentieth anniversary of the Chaimu Troupe; discussions with co-star Lee Joong-ok helped her overcome early self-doubts and marked a crucial moment in her creative development. Later that same year, she played Kim Sol in the musical Infinite Power, directed by Park Hee-soon, earning praise for her vocal clarity, comedic capabilities, and versatility during its run at the Daehangno TOM 1 Theater from September 2015 to January 2016.
In April 2018, Ahn signed an exclusive representation contract with Imagine Asia and began pursuing television roles. She took on supporting parts in series such as Life, The Crowned Clown, Possessed, My Fellow Citizens, and Kingdom. By August 2019, she joined Big Boss Entertainment and portrayed police officer So Jeong-hwa in Strangers from Hell. She subsequently auditioned for writer Lee Woo-jung and director Shin Won-ho's medical drama Hospital Playlist, ultimately securing the role of Chu Min-ha, which ran from 2020 to 2021 and established her breakthrough on television.
In August 2021, Ahn joined United Artist Agency and landed her first leading role as Pyo In-sook, a terminally ill woman, in the JTBC drama The One and Only. She also expanded into film work, featuring in the 2022 release The Night Owl and the 2024 film Citizen of a Kind.
Ahn's career continued to flourish in 2023 with prominent television roles. She starred as Lee Mi-joo in Shim Na-yeon's JTBC drama The Good Bad Mother, playing a resilient nail artist and single mother of twins. She also played noblewoman Yoo Gil-chae in the MBC historical drama My Dearest alongside Namkoong Min, earning a Best Actress nomination at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards. Later, from November to December 2025, she starred as Go Da-rim opposite Jang Ki-yong in the SBS TV romantic comedy Dynamite Kiss.
