Kim Sung-cheol

Kim Sung-cheol is a South Korean actor born on December 31, 1991. He initially established his career through work in theatrical musicals before transitioning into screen roles. He is widely recognized for his performances across feature films and television series, including prominent roles in project titles such as The Battle of Jangsari, Do You Like Brahms?, Our Beloved Summer, and Hellbound.

Kim began his professional acting career in 2014 when he debuted in the musical stage production Puberty. Over the next several years, he built a stage repertoire by performing in musicals such as My Bucket List, Werther, and Fan Letter. In 2016, he played Tobias Ragg in the South Korean production of Sweeney Todd, a role that earned him the Best Rookie Actor award at the Korea Musical Awards.

In 2017, Kim made his television acting debut in the drama series Prison Playbook, playing the character Kim Young-cheol, also referred to as Jailbird. He expanded his screen credits in 2018 by starring opposite Jung Chae-yeon in the musical romantic comedy drama To. Jenny. During the same year, he appeared in the film Too Hot to Die and joined the cast of the OCN television drama Player in October.

Kim continued appearing in multiple screen productions throughout 2019. On television, he took on roles in the JTBC drama The Wind Blows and the tvN series Arthdal Chronicles. In cinema, he held a supporting part in the movie Kim Ji-young: Born 1982 and co-starred in the war feature The Battle of Jangsari. His performance in the latter earned him the Best New Actor award at the 27th Korean Culture and Entertainment Awards.

In 2020, Kim was featured in the SBS drama Do You Like Brahms?, securing a nomination for Best New Actor at the 2020 SBS Drama Awards. Later that year, he portrayed the character Jung Ui-myeong in the Netflix apocalyptic horror production Sweet Home.

During 2021, Kim made guest appearances in the series Vincenzo and Racket Boys, and served as an MC for the Channel A television show DIMF Musical Star. In July of that year, he was cast in the SBS drama Our Beloved Summer, which premiered in December 2021. He was also confirmed in August 2021 to join the cast of the historical film The Owl, which commenced filming the following month. Kim returned to musical theater in 2022, playing the character L in the South Korean production of Death Note.
