Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea, on April 11, 1995. He is the eldest son in his family and has a younger brother who has an intellectual disability. For his higher education, Lee attended Chung-Ang University, where he graduated from the Department of Film and Theater.
He made his screen debut in 2017 by appearing in the dark comedy series Prison Playbook, playing the younger counterpart of a main character. In 2018, Lee performed in a supporting role as a high school athlete in the romantic series Still 17, which earned him a nomination at the SBS Drama Awards. Later that same year, he portrayed a martial artist in the drama Clean with Passion for Now.
In 2019, Lee appeared in the dark fantasy project Hotel del Luna, which achieved notable viewership ratings on cable television. That same year, he made a special guest appearance in The Great Show and starred in the single-episode drama Scouting Report, earning the award for Best Actor in a One-Act/Special/Short Drama at the 33rd KBS Drama Awards.

In 2021, Lee appeared in Beyond Evil, starred in the period drama Youth of May, joined the cast of Melancholia, and served as a co-host for the 2021 KBS Drama Awards.
In 2022, Lee starred in the promotional short web series Reincarnation Romance and joined the cast of the Netflix drama The Glory. He followed this with an appearance in Death's Game in 2023, choosing the project due to his prior connection with its director.
In April 2023, Lee was confirmed to be in a relationship with actress Lim Ji-yeon, whom he met during the filming of The Glory. Later that year, on August 14, 2023, he enlisted in the military to fulfill his service within the Air Force military band, completing his 21-month service and receiving his discharge on May 13, 2025.
