Bae Suzy

Bae Su-ji, known professionally as Bae Suzy or Suzy, is a South Korean singer and actress. First gaining prominence as a member of the girl group Miss A, she made her acting debut in the 2011 drama Dream High. Her break in the 2012 film Architecture 101 earned her the nickname "Nation's First Love" from South Korean media. Over her career, she has established a solo music career and starred in television series including Gu Family Book, Uncontrollably Fond, While You Were Sleeping, Anna, and Doona!, as well as films such as Ashfall and Wonderland.

Born on October 10, 1994, in Gwangju, South Korea, Bae is the daughter of Jeong Hyun-sook and former youth national taekwondo coach Bae Wan-young. She was raised with an older sister and a younger brother. Before her debut, she worked as an online shopping model and danced in a street crew. After auditioning for Mnet's Superstar K in 2009, she was scouted by JYP Entertainment and became a trainee, later graduating from the School of Performing Arts Seoul in 2013.

Bae debuted with Miss A in March 2010 and soon began hosting programs like MBC's Show! Music Core. Her performance in Dream High won her the Best New Actress award at the KBS Drama Awards. She made her feature film debut in Architecture 101, which set box-office records for Korean melodramas. Bae became the first Korean female celebrity to earn rookie awards across singer, drama, film, and variety categories. She later took on television roles in Big and Gu Family Book, and underwent a year of pansori training for her role in the 2015 historical film The Sound of a Flower.

In 2016, Bae topped music charts with "Dream," a collaboration with Exo's Baekhyun, and starred in Uncontrollably Fond. She launched her solo musical debut in 2017 with the EP Yes? No?. Following Miss A's disbandment in 2017 and her transition to Management Soop in 2019, she expanded her acting catalog with roles in the action series Vagabond, the disaster movie Ashfall, the drama Start-Up, the psychological thriller Anna, and the romance series Doona!.

Her projects further include the sci-fi film Wonderland, the music show Moving Voices, the romantic fantasy series Genie, Make a Wish, the film Seven O'Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted, and the series Portraits of Delusion. Alongside her acting, she continued releasing music, including the singles "Satellite," "Cape," and "Come Back."

Recognized as a prolific commercial endorser, Bae earned the title "CF Queen" and has served as a global ambassador for brands like Dior and Longines. She is also an active philanthropist, donating frequently to childhood cancer research, disaster relief, single mothers, and low-income families.
