Wendy

Shon Seung-wan, known professionally as Wendy, is a South Korean singer best known as the main vocalist of the girl group Red Velvet. Born on February 21, 1994, in Seoul, South Korea, she spent part of her childhood and adolescence living and studying in Canada and the United States. She joined SM Entertainment in 2012 after auditioning at the SM Global Audition in Canada and was later introduced as part of the pre-debut training team SM Rookies.

Wendy debuted with Red Velvet in August 2014 with the release of the digital single Happiness. As the group's main vocalist, she contributed to a wide variety of successful releases, spanning upbeat pop tracks such as Red Flavor and R&B-infused singles such as Bad Boy and Psycho. In April 2021, she launched her official solo career with the release of her debut extended play, Like Water, featuring dual lead singles Like Water and When This Rain Stops. She later released her second solo EP, Wish You Hell, in 2024. In 2022, she was also showcased as a member of SM Entertainment's supergroup project Got the Beat.

In addition to her core musical releases, Wendy has established a diverse presence across radio hosting, original soundtracks, and stage theater. She served as the primary host of the radio program Wendy's Youngstreet from 2021 to 2023 and has performed soundtrack songs for numerous television dramas. In 2023, she expanded into musical theater, making her stage debut in the South Korean production of the musical Rebecca. She continues to stay active as a solo artist, ensemble performer, and entertainer.
