Louis Herthum

Louis W. Herthum is an American actor and producer who has performed across film, television, national commercials, and the stage. Born on July 5, 1956, he was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is widely recognized for his recurring depiction of Deputy Andy Broom in the mystery series Murder, She Wrote and his portrayal of the android Peter Abernathy in the science fiction series Westworld.

Herthum began his acting journey in 1978 by participating in local theatrical productions, print advertisements, and regional television spots. He made his initial television screen appearances starting in 1989. In 1991, he secured the role of Deputy Andy Broom on Murder, She Wrote, appearing in 25 episodes throughout the program's final five seasons. Having previously played two distinct guest characters on the drama, he maintained a close friendship with lead star Angela Lansbury until her passing in 2022.

Over the course of his television career, Herthum secured guest and recurring appearances on numerous high-profile programs. His credits include CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, NCIS, Criminal Minds, JAG, The Mentalist, Men of a Certain Age, True Detective, Treme, Breaking Bad, and The Gates. He also joined the fifth season of True Blood in 2011 for seven episodes.

By 2016, Herthum was featured in two active television projects, portraying Omar on the Netflix series Longmire and playing Peter Abernathy on Westworld. Following a recurring run during the first season of Westworld, he was elevated to the main cast for its second season. Additionally, he joined the primary cast of the Amazon Prime Video series The Peripheral in June 2021.

In addition to his work on television, Herthum has appeared in various feature films. His motion picture credits include In the Electric Mist, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I Love You Phillip Morris, American Inquisition, The Open Road, Tekken, 12 Rounds, Seconds Apart, and The Last Exorcism.

Beyond acting, Herthum expanded into film production in March 1996 after finishing his run on Murder, She Wrote. He returned to Baton Rouge to produce his debut feature film, Favorite Son. Operating through his local production banner, Ransack Films, he has produced five feature films, a short film titled The Grapevine, and a feature-length documentary called The Season Before Spring.
