Lindsay Wagner

Lindsay Jean Wagner is an American actress born on June 22, 1949, in Los Angeles, California. She is best known for her leading role as Jaime Sommers in the television series The Bionic Woman, a character she first played on The Six Million Dollar Man. The role became a pop culture icon of the 1970s and earned Wagner an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Dramatic Role in 1977, making her the first actor or actress in a science fiction series to win the award.

Wagner spent her early childhood in Los Angeles before moving with her family to Portland, Oregon, where she graduated from David Douglas High School. She briefly spent time in France and later attended the University of Oregon for a year, followed by six months at Mt. Hood Community College before dropping out to move back to Los Angeles. During her youth, she was diagnosed with dyslexia.

In Los Angeles, Wagner worked as a model and gained television experience as a hostess on Playboy After Dark and as a contestant on The Dating Game in 1969. After signing a contract with Universal Studios in 1971, she made her primetime network television debut on Adam-12 and appeared in various series, including Marcus Welby, M.D. and The Rockford Files. She entered film in 1973 with her lead role in Two People and co-starred in The Paper Chase that same year. Her breakthrough occurred when she was cast as Jaime Sommers in 1975, leading to the spin-off series The Bionic Woman in 1976.

Following The Bionic Woman, Wagner starred in miniseries such as Scruples (1980), movies like Nighthawks (1981), and television series including Jessie (1984) and A Peaceable Kingdom (1989). She reprised her role as Jaime Sommers in three made-for-TV Bionic reunion movies alongside Lee Majors between 1987 and 1994. In later years, she appeared in films such as Ricochet (1991), Thicker than Water (2005), and Christmas at the Ranch (2021). Her television work expanded to recurring roles in Warehouse 13, Alphas, NCIS, and Grey's Anatomy. In 2019, she provided her likeness and voice acting for the video game Death Stranding.

Beyond acting, Wagner co-authored books on acupressure and vegetarian cooking, including High Road to Health in 1994. She served as a commercial spokesperson for Southern California Ford dealerships from 1987 to 2000 and for Select Comfort's Sleep Number beds from 2003 to 2009. She has also led self-help therapy seminars titled "Quiet the Mind and Open the Heart." Additionally, Wagner began working as an adjunct faculty member teaching acting, directing, and film production at San Bernardino Valley College in 2013.

Wagner has received several honors, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1984, a Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars in 2012, and the Humanitarian Award at the San Diego International Film Festival in 2019. In her personal life, Wagner has been married and divorced four times and has two sons, Dorian and Alex, with her third husband, stuntman Henry Kingi.
