Angus Sampson

Angus Sampson is an Australian actor and filmmaker recognized for his work across film and television. His notable screen credits include portraying Tucker in the Insidious movie series, Ray Jenkins in the 2014 feature The Mule, and the Organic Mechanic in both Mad Max: Fury Road and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. He has also held major roles in television series such as the second season of Fargo, the ongoing drama Bump, and the streaming series The Lincoln Lawyer.

Sampson was born in Sydney, Australia. He received his education at Trinity Grammar School in Summer Hill and at The Armidale School, located in northern New South Wales. He later completed his studies at the AWARD School, graduating in 2002.

His professional performance career began in 1996, when he served as a sidekick to Dylan Lewis on the ABC youth music series Recovery. In subsequent years, Sampson appeared on several television programs, including The Secret Life of Us, The 10:30 Slot, Greeks on the Roof, and an episode of Stingers playing the character Ali. He was also a participant on the improvised television show Thank God You're Here. In 2007, he portrayed broadcaster Ugly Dave Gray in the biographical television movie The King, which detailed the life of Australian TV personality Graham Kennedy, and appeared in the series Wilfred. The following year, he played Leonardo da Vinci in the children's program Time Trackers and appeared as Michael Thorneycroft across the final three episodes of Underbelly.

In 2010, Sampson partnered with fellow former Recovery presenter Leigh Whannell to help develop the horror feature Insidious. Released in September 2010, the film featured Sampson as Tucker, a lighthearted paranormal investigator, a character he went on to play in three sequels. That same year, he served as the physical suit actor for Bull in Spike Jonze's film Where the Wild Things Are. Sampson later gained wider international television roles, portraying Bear Gerhardt in season two of FX's Fargo in 2015 and playing Ozzy in The Walking Dead. Since 2022, he has portrayed lead character Dennis "Cisco" Wojciechowski in Netflix's drama series The Lincoln Lawyer, based on the Michael Connelly novel.

In addition to acting on screen, Sampson has contributed to Australian radio. He occasionally co-hosted Get This with Tony Martin on Triple M and presented for RRR's Breakfasters program. As a member of the experimental group The Forbidden Fruit, he participated in a late-night radio adaptation of Mad Max 2 portraying The Lord Humongous. In early 2011, he hosted the deadpan comedy radio show The Lonely Hearts Club on ABC Radio National without on-air credit, performing under the alias Richard Silk. His industry contributions also include serving as a guest juror at the 2006 Melbourne International Film Festival and hosting the 2010 IF Awards on SBS TV.
