Ed Westwick

Ed Westwick is an English actor and musician born on 27 June 1987. He is best known for his role as Chuck Bass on the teen drama series Gossip Girl and as Vincent Swan in the television comedy series White Gold. Over the course of his career, he has appeared in numerous feature films, television productions, and musical projects.

Raised in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, alongside two older brothers, Westwick began taking music lessons and attending a Saturday morning drama school at the age of six. He was educated at The Barclay School and North Hertfordshire College, where he took A-levels in business, law, and communication. During his youth, he was also a member of the National Youth Theatre in London.

Westwick entered feature films in 2006 with appearances in Children of Men and Breaking and Entering, securing the latter following an open audition call with the National Youth Theatre. In 2007, he featured in the movie Son of Rambow and was cast in his breakthrough role as Chuck Bass on The CW's Gossip Girl. To portray the character, he adopted an American accent inspired by Carlton Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

His performance in Gossip Girl earned him widespread public recognition and awards. He received the Teen Choice Award for Best TV Villain in both 2008 and 2009, was named Breakthrough Talent by GQ in 2010, and appeared on high-profile lists in People and Entertainment Weekly. Alongside his acting work, Westwick became the face of K-Swiss in 2008 and an international celebrity endorser for the Philippine clothing brand Penshoppe in 2011.

Throughout his career, Westwick has starred in a wide range of films, including 100 Feet, S. Darko, Chalet Girl, J. Edgar, Romeo & Juliet, Bone in the Throat, Freaks of Nature, Billionaire Ransom, The Crash, and Me You Madness. On television, he guest-starred in Californication, portrayed serial killer Kent Grainger in Wicked City, and played the lead role of Vincent Swan in BBC Two's White Gold across two seasons.

In addition to acting, Westwick was a member of the British punk band The Filthy Youth, formed in 2006, and serves as the vocalist for the band For You, which released its debut single "Tailspin" in January 2023. In July 2025, he was announced as a shareholder and ambassador for the online casino business Gamblr.

In his personal life, Westwick married actress Amy Jackson in 2024 following their engagement earlier that year. The couple welcomed their son, Oscar Alexander, in March 2025, and Westwick is also a stepfather to Jackson's son from a previous relationship.
