Christina Chong

Christina Chong is a British actress and musical artist. She is widely recognized for her television and film appearances, portraying prominent figures in various productions such as Line of Duty, Monroe, Halo: Nightfall, Doctor Who, Black Mirror, and 24: Live Another Day. Additionally, she stars as La'An Noonien-Singh in the Paramount+ sci-fi series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Born in Enfield to a father of Chinese descent and an English mother, Chong grew up alongside five brothers and sisters in Broxbourne. Following her parents' divorce, she relocated with her mother and siblings to Longridge. She began dance training at four years old at the Sutcliffe School of Dance. At age 14, she enrolled at London's Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating in 2003. She subsequently joined the cast of Elton John's musical Aida in Essen, Germany, but a physical injury forced her to end her musical theater path.

Redirecting her focus to dramatic performance, Chong moved to New York City to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for a year and a half. Upon returning to London, she initially struggled to secure major roles, finding work primarily in small parts and television advertisements. During this period, she taught acting at local schools and co-owned her father's Chinese eatery located in Harpenden.

Chong achieved her career breakthrough in 2011 after securing supporting film parts in W.E. and Johnny English Reborn. That same year, she made a guest appearance in the Doctor Who story A Good Man Goes to War and gained a main cast position on the medical drama Monroe. Over the subsequent three years, she took on various recurring and guest parts across British and American television networks.

In 2014, Chong filmed scenes for a small part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, though her performance was removed from the theatrical release. The following year, she joined the second season of the SyFy television project Dominion in a recurring role. Her character, Zoe Holloway, was depicted as an Archangel Corps member in Vega who eventually leads a uprising among the underprivileged population.

Since 2023, Chong has served as a central performer on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Her character, La'An Noonien-Singh, is featured as a direct relative of the iconic sci-fi figure Khan Noonien Singh.
