Additionally, she portrayed Lieutenant Connix in the Star Wars sequel trilogy released between 2015 and 2019.

Born on July 17, 1992, in Los Angeles, California, Lourd comes from a family with deep ties to the entertainment industry. She is the only child of actress Carrie Fisher and talent agent Bryan Lourd, as well as the granddaughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher. Raised in Los Angeles, she attended the Harvard-Westlake School and was a debutante at Le Bal des débutantes in Paris in 2008. She later pursued higher education at New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, graduating in 2014 with an individualized degree focusing on Art and Business as Religion.

Lourd made her screen debut as Lieutenant Connix in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, later returning for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. For a flashback scene in the final installment, she also stood in for her mother's character, with visual effects replacing her face with Fisher's likeness. In 2015, creator Ryan Murphy offered her a main role in Scream Queens without requiring an audition. She played the earmuff-wearing character Chanel #3 for two seasons of the show.

Following her work on Scream Queens, Lourd expanded her acting roles in both film and television. She was cast as Rosanna in the biographical drama Billionaire Boys Club, which was released in 2018. In 2017, she joined the cast of American Horror Story for its seventh season, playing Winter Anderson as well as cult member Linda Kasabian. She returned for the show's eighth season, Apocalypse, playing a witch named Mallory. She also featured in Olivia Wilde's 2019 high school comedy film Booksmart as Gigi.

Lourd continued her television career by starring as Montana Duke in the ninth season of American Horror Story, titled 1984. That same year, she guest-starred on the sitcom Will & Grace as Fiona, playing the granddaughter of a character originally portrayed by her real-life grandmother. In subsequent seasons of American Horror Story, she portrayed tattoo artist Lark Feldman in Double Feature, biologist Hannah Wells in NYC, and took on a recurring role in the twelfth season. Her other projects include an Old Navy commercial, the romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise, and the comedy film And Mrs.

In her personal life, Lourd began dating actor Austen Rydell in early 2016. After a brief separation—during which she dated actor Taylor Lautner—she reconciled with Rydell in late 2017.
