Evan Peters

Evan Thomas Peters is an American actor born on January 20, 1987. He made his professional acting debut in the 2004 drama film Clipping Adam. From 2005 to 2006, he starred in the ABC science fiction series Invasion. Peters later achieved widespread recognition for portraying a wide variety of characters across ten seasons of Ryan Murphy's FX anthology series American Horror Story between 2011 and 2021.

Peters was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Julie and Phillip Peters, and grew up in the suburb of Ballwin. He is of German descent and was raised Catholic. He has an older brother and an older paternal half-sister. In 2001, his family relocated to Grand Blanc, Michigan, where he took acting classes and pursued modeling. At age 15, he moved with his mother to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, taking homeschooling classes after attending Burbank High School as a sophomore.

Early in his career, Peters appeared in commercials for brands such as PlayStation and Sour Patch Kids. He secured roles in television shows including The Days, Phil of the Future, and Invasion, as well as guest appearances on series such as The Mentalist, House, Monk, and The Office. His early film work featured supporting roles in Sleepover (2004), An American Crime (2007), Gardens of the Night (2008), and Never Back Down (2008). In 2010, he played Todd Haynes in the superhero movie Kick-Ass.

Peters experienced his career breakthrough in 2011 with his role as Tate Langdon in the first season of American Horror Story. Over subsequent seasons, he played diverse characters including Kit Walker in Asylum, Kyle Spencer in Coven, Jimmy Darling in Freak Show, James Patrick March in Hotel, Edward Philipe Mott and Rory Monahan in Roanoke, and Austin Sommers in Red Tide. His portrayal of Kit Walker earned him a Satellite Award nomination, while his performance in Cult earned a Critics' Choice nomination.

In film, Peters was cast as Peter Maximoff, also known as Quicksilver, in the X-Men series, appearing in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), and Dark Phoenix (2019). He later reprised a variation of this character in the Disney+ series WandaVision. His other feature film credits include Adult World (2014), The Lazarus Effect (2015), Safelight (2015), Elvis & Nixon (2016), and The Pirates of Somalia (2017). His performance in the 2018 heist film American Animals earned him a nomination for a British Independent Film Award.

Peters gained further critical success for his television work in the 2020s. His role as a detective in HBO's crime miniseries Mare of Easttown (2021) won him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series. In 2022, he starred as Jeffrey Dahmer in Netflix's Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, winning a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor and receiving a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. He subsequently voiced a character in the 2023 animated film Wish, joined the cast of Tron: Ares, and executive produced and starred in the 2026 FX series The Beauty.
