Adam Levine

Adam Noah Levine is an American singer, musician, and television personality, best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and sole continuous member of the pop rock band Maroon 5. Born on March 18, 1979, in Los Angeles, California, he was raised by his parents, Fredric Levine, the founder of retail chain M. Fredric, and Patsy Levine, an admissions counselor. Levine attended Brentwood School, where he met his future bandmates, and later briefly studied at Five Towns College in New York.

Levine began his musical pursuits in February 1994 as the lead vocalist and lead guitarist for the garage band Kara's Flowers, alongside Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, and Ryan Dusick. The group played their first gig at the Whisky a Go Go in 1995 and was later signed to Reprise Records. In August 1997, they released their debut album, The Fourth World, and appeared on the drama series Beverly Hills, 90210. However, the album was a commercial failure, selling about 5,000 copies, leading the record label to drop the band, which subsequently broke up.

After regrouping in 2001, the members added guitarist James Valentine and renamed themselves Maroon 5, shifting their musical focus toward groove-based styles. While working as a writer's assistant on the television show Judging Amy, Levine wrote songs inspired by an ex-girlfriend, which were included on Maroon 5's debut album, Songs About Jane, released in June 2002. The album became a multi-platinum sleeper hit, earning Maroon 5 their first Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005, followed by another Grammy Award for the single "This Love."

Maroon 5 continued releasing studio albums, starting with It Won't Be Soon Before Long in 2007, which featured the Grammy-winning single "Makes Me Wonder." Their 2010 album, Hands All Over, produced the worldwide hit single "Moves like Jagger" featuring Christina Aguilera, which became one of the best-selling digital singles of all time. Maroon 5 followed this success with the albums Overexposed in 2012, V in 2014, Red Pill Blues in 2017, Jordi in 2021, and Love Is Like in 2025. On February 10, 2017, Levine received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Beyond his work with Maroon 5, Levine has engaged in numerous musical collaborations and media projects. As a featured guest artist, he achieved top-five success on the Billboard Hot 100 with Gym Class Heroes on their 2011 single "Stereo Hearts." He has also appeared on tracks with artists such as Kanye West, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, and Jack Harlow. From 2011 to 2019, and returning in 2025 and 2026, Levine served for eighteen seasons as a coach on NBC's reality show The Voice, with contestants from his team winning four seasons.

Levine made his acting debut in 2012 as a recurring character in the television series American Horror Story and subsequently appeared in films such as Begin Again, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Fun Mom Dinner, and The Clapper. In 2013, he launched an eponymous fragrance line and a menswear collection in collaboration with Kmart. Additionally, Levine owns the record label 222 Records and the production company 222 Productions, which produced television shows including Sugar and Songland.
