Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Isabel Rodrigo is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She first gained public recognition as a child actress, starring in the direct-to-video film An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success and playing leading roles in television series such as Disney Channel's Bizaardvark and Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. She later transitioned to a music career, releasing record-breaking studio albums and becoming the first artist to have each lead single from her first three studio albums debut atop the US Billboard Hot 100.

Rodrigo was born on February 20, 2003, in Murrieta, California, and grew up in Temecula as an only child. Her mother worked as a schoolteacher and her father as a family therapist. She is half-Filipina and identifies as Filipino American, while also having German and Irish ancestry. Raised listening to alternative rock bands preferred by her parents, Rodrigo began taking vocal lessons at age five, followed by acting, piano, and guitar lessons. She participated in musical theater programs and local singing competitions, making her onscreen debut in a 2010 commercial.

Her acting debut came in 2015 starring as Grace Thomas in An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success. In 2016, she moved to Los Angeles after landing the role of Paige Olvera in Bizaardvark, playing the character for three seasons while being homeschooled. In 2019, Rodrigo was cast as Nini Salazar-Roberts in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, for which she wrote and performed the single "All I Want." She left the series after its third season to focus on music.

In 2020, Rodrigo signed with Geffen Records, securing ownership of her master recordings. Her debut single, "Drivers License," released in January 2021, broke global streaming records and debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Preceded by "Deja Vu" and "Good 4 U," her debut studio album, Sour, was released in May 2021 to critical acclaim, topping the Billboard 200. She supported the album with the concert film Sour Prom, the documentary Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U, and her 2022 headlining Sour Tour.

Rodrigo released her second album, Guts, in September 2023, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 and produced the number-one lead single "Vampire." She supported the release with the Guts World Tour from 2024 to 2025, alongside a Netflix concert film. In 2025, she headlined major music festivals including Governors Ball, BST Hyde Park, Glastonbury Festival, and Lollapalooza Chicago, performing alongside guest musicians such as David Byrne, Robert Smith, and Weezer.

In April 2026, Rodrigo announced her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Its lead single, "Drop Dead," debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100, followed by the singles "The Cure" and "Stupid Song." Released in June 2026, the album topped both the Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart. To support the record, she scheduled the Unraveled Tour and organized Daisy Chain Fields, an all-female charity music festival.

Rodrigo's accolades include three Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, and seven Billboard Music Awards. She was named Time's Entertainer of the Year in 2021, Billboard's Woman of the Year in 2022, and ASCAP's Pop Music Songwriter of the Year in 2022 and 2024. In 2023, she also became the youngest artist to receive the Brit Billion Award.
