Christina Aguilera

Christina María Aguilera is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and television personality. Known for her four-octave vocal range, melismatic singing style, whistle register, and frequent reinventions, she has been referred to as the "Voice of a Generation" and listed among the greatest singers of all time by Rolling Stone. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, she is one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Aguilera was born on December 18, 1980, in Ocean Breeze, New York. Growing up in an unstable home, she turned to music as an escape. After her parents divorced, she settled in Rochester, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, where she explored her grandmother's record collection and began competing in local talent contests. In 1990, she appeared on the show Star Search, and later sang the national anthem for several local professional sports teams.

In 1993, Aguilera joined the cast of the Disney Channel show The All New Mickey Mouse Club. She recorded "Reflection", the theme song for the 1998 animated film Mulan, which earned her a record deal with RCA Records. Her 1999 self-titled debut album topped the US Billboard 200 and generated three Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles: "Genie in a Bottle", "What a Girl Wants", and "Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)". In 2000, she released the Latin pop album Mi Reflejo and the holiday album My Kind of Christmas.

In 2001, Aguilera reached number one on the Hot 100 as part of the collaboration "Lady Marmalade" for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack. She subsequently adopted the alter ego Xtina and a more provocative image for her 2002 album Stripped, which included the hit "Dirrty" and became one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century. She earned her second US number-one album with the retro-inspired Back to Basics in 2006, amassing international hits such as "Beautiful" and "Ain't No Other Man".

During the early 2010s, Aguilera featured on successful singles including "Feel This Moment", "Say Something", and "Moves like Jagger", which topped the Hot 100 and made her the fourth woman to hold a number-one single across three consecutive decades. She made her film debut starring in Burlesque in 2010, followed by roles in Nashville, The Emoji Movie, and Zoe. Aguilera also served as a coach on The Voice between 2011 and 2016, co-founded the company Playground, and became a World Food Programme ambassador.

Across her career, Aguilera has released nine studio albums and helped shape the Latin music movement with Mi Reflejo. Named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world in 2013, her honours include five Grammy Awards, two Latin Grammy Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, a Billboard Music Award, three Billboard Latin Music Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the title of Disney Legend.
