Zachary Quinto

Zachary John Quinto is an American actor known for his roles across television, film, and theatre. He achieved widespread recognition for portraying the primary antagonist Gabriel "Sylar" Gray in the science fiction drama series Heroes, playing Spock in the rebooted Star Trek film franchise, and starring as Dr. Oliver Thredson in American Horror Story: Asylum. In addition to his screen acting, Quinto has worked as a producer through his company, Before the Door Pictures.

Quinto was born on June 2, 1977, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Margaret and Joseph John Quinto. Following his father's death when Quinto was seven years old, he was raised alongside his brother by their mother in Green Tree, Pennsylvania. Raised Catholic, Quinto attended Saints Simon and Jude Catholic School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1995, where he participated in musicals and earned a Gene Kelly Award for Best Supporting Actor. He pursued higher education at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama, graduating in 1999.

Quinto made his television debut on the series The Others and appeared as a guest actor on shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Charmed, Six Feet Under, and Dragnet. In 2003, he secured a recurring role as computer expert Adam Kaufman in the third season of 24. He played the recurring character Sasan on the VH1 series So Notorious in 2006 before joining the cast of Heroes later that year. His performance as Sylar on Heroes continued through the show's four-season run, ending in 2010.

Quinto gained major feature film visibility when he was cast as young Spock in the 2009 film Star Trek, a role he reprised in Star Trek Into Darkness in 2013 and Star Trek Beyond in 2016. In 2008, he co-founded the production company Before the Door Pictures, which produced projects across film, television, and graphic novels. Through his company, Quinto produced and starred in the 2011 independent drama Margin Call. His other film performances include roles in Hitman: Agent 47, I Am Michael, Snowden, and Hotel Artemis, as well as serving as an executive producer on All Is Lost.

Throughout his career, Quinto has remained active in stage productions. He won a Theatre World Award for his role as Louis Ironson in an Off-Broadway revival of Angels in America, appeared on Broadway in The Glass Menagerie and The Boys in the Band, and made his West End debut in 2022 as Gore Vidal in Best of Enemies. His television credits also include NOS4A2 and a Primetime Emmy Award-nominated role in American Horror Story: Asylum. From 2024 until 2026, Quinto starred in and produced the NBC medical drama series Brilliant Minds.
