Colm Feore

Colm Joseph Feore is a Canadian actor known for his extensive work in theatre, television, and film. He has established a prominent career in both Canadian productions and mainstream Hollywood releases, earning recognition for his versatile performances across various genres.

Feore was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 22, 1958, to Irish parents, Dr. Dermot Feore and Elaine Taylor. His family spent several years in Ireland before emigrating to Canada in 1961, residing in Ottawa and later Windsor, Ontario. After graduating from Ridley College in St. Catharines, he received his formal drama training at the National Theatre School of Canada in Montreal.

Beginning his career on stage, Feore spent 17 seasons as an actor with the Stratford Festival of Canada. Over his tenure, he progressed from small parts to starring roles in iconic productions such as Romeo, Hamlet, Richard III, Cyrano de Bergerac, Macbeth, King Lear, Don Juan, and Oliver!. Beyond Stratford, his theatrical credits include performing on Broadway as Cassius in Julius Caesar alongside Denzel Washington, as well as playing Claudius Off-Broadway in a Public Theater production of Hamlet opposite Liev Schreiber.

In Canadian screen media, Feore gained wide acclaim for portraying classical pianist Glenn Gould in Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould and Detective Martin Ward in the hit film Bon Cop, Bad Cop and its 2017 sequel. On television, his portrayal of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in the CBC miniseries Trudeau earned him a Gemini Award. He also appeared in the Canadian television series Slings and Arrows and won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film Sugar Daddy.

Internationally, Feore has featured in numerous high-profile feature films, including Face/Off, City of Angels, Pearl Harbor, Chicago, The Sum of All Fears, Paycheck, and The Chronicles of Riddick. He also portrayed Chief James E. Davis in Changeling, the Frost Giant king Laufey in Thor, and Donald Menken in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. On television, he starred as Andre Linoge in Storm of the Century and appeared in series such as The West Wing, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Friday the 13th: The Series, and Gotham.

Feore's notable television credits further include playing First Gentleman Henry Taylor on 24, Cardinal Della Rovere on The Borgias, General Ted Brockhart on House of Cards, Declan Gallard on 21 Thunder, Wernher von Braun in For All Mankind, and Sir Reginald Hargreeves on The Umbrella Academy.

A fluently bilingual performer, Feore received an honorary Doctor of Humanities from the University of Windsor in 2002 and an honorary Doctor of Letters from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2012. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2013 and received the Gascon-Thomas Award that same year. His accolades also include a Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, a Prix Iris, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. He has three children: son Jack from his marriage to actress Sidonie Boll, and son Thomas and daughter Anna with his wife, choreographer Donna Feore, whom he married in 1994.
