Jeff Nippard

Jeff Nippard is a Canadian natural bodybuilder, powerlifter, strength coach, and fitness influencer. Born on October 6, 1990, in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador, he is widely recognized for his evidence-based approach to resistance training, muscle hypertrophy, and exercise science. By translating peer-reviewed scientific literature into accessible instructional content, he became one of the leading figures in online fitness education.

Early Life and Education

Nippard grew up in Canada and developed an early passion for exercise science and weightlifting, inspired in part by his mother, Denise Henstridge, who competed in bodybuilding. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from the Memorial University of Newfoundland. Although he was initially accepted into dental school at Dalhousie University, Nippard chose to defer his studies to fully commit to professional fitness coaching, competitive powerlifting, and digital content creation.

Competitive Bodybuilding and Athletic Career

Nippard launched his competitive career in natural bodybuilding and raw powerlifting as a teenager. In 2012, he won the overall title of Mr. Junior Canada in natural bodybuilding. As a powerlifter, he competed in the 74-kilogram weight class, setting a Canadian national bench press record in 2014 and achieving competitive lifts that included a 502-pound squat, a 336-pound bench press, and a 518-pound deadlift. His competitive background laid the groundwork for his analytical approach to lifting mechanics and program design.

Content Creation and Business Ventures

Nippard created his digital brand and YouTube channel to present evidence-based lifting principles, replacing traditional gym folklore with research-backed guidance. His structured video essays cover exercise technique, biomechanics, nutrition, and training efficiency. In addition to producing digital guides and training programs, he co-founded MacroFactor, a popular nutrition tracking and macro-coaching application launched in 2021. In late 2024, he published the instructional book The Muscle Ladder: Get Jacked Using Science, expanding his educational reach to print publishing.

Personal Life

Nippard resides in Ontario, Canada, where he produces videos and instructional materials. He was engaged to Dr. Stephanie Buttermore, a cancer research scientist and fellow fitness creator, with whom he shared a decade-long partnership before her sudden passing in March 2026. Nippard continues to promote evidence-based exercise education and scientific health advocacy to a global community of millions.
