Born on March 30, 1968, in Charlemagne, Quebec, she emerged from a large musical family to become a teenage star in Canada before growing into one of the most successful pop vocalists in global history.

Rise to Stardom

Dion gained early recognition in French-speaking markets during the 1980s under the guidance of talent manager René Angélil, whom she later married. Her international profile expanded after winning the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest representing Switzerland. She subsequently learned English to enter the mainstream global market, releasing her debut English album, Unison, in 1990. Her duet with Peabo Bryson for Disney's animated film Beauty and the Beast in 1991 earned an Academy Award and a Grammy, establishing her worldwide pop presence.

Global Chart Dominance

Throughout the 1990s, Dion achieved colossal worldwide success with multi-platinum albums like Falling into You (1996) and Let's Talk About Love (1997). She produced enduring hit singles including The Power of Love, Because You Loved Me, and It's All Coming Back to Me Now. Her signature song, My Heart Will Go On, recorded as the main theme for the blockbuster film Titanic, topped charts across the globe and became one of the best-selling singles in history. Her 1995 release D'eux also remains the top-selling French-language album ever.

Residencies and Later Work

Dion revolutionized live entertainment by establishing the modern Las Vegas residency model. Her extended residency A New Day... at Caesars Palace ran from 2003 to 2007, followed by another residency from 2011 to 2019, making her the top-grossing Las Vegas resident performer. Beyond her residency work, Dion continued touring globally and recorded numerous albums. In 2024, she delivered a triumphant performance from the Eiffel Tower during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games.

Personal Life

Dion married her manager René Angélil in 1994, and they had three sons together prior to Angélil's death from cancer in 2016. Based in Nevada, Dion has remained open about her personal life and health, including her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome. Despite reducing live tour appearances, she remains one of the most celebrated and influential vocalists in modern music history.
