Jake Lawson

Jacob Dodge Lawson, known professionally by his stage name JVKE (pronounced "Jake"), is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and social media personality. Born on March 3, 2001, in Providence, Rhode Island, he gained widespread global recognition for his viral pop compositions that blend cinematic piano melodies, modern beat production, and emotional storytelling.

About

Raised in Cranston, Rhode Island, Lawson grew up in a music-oriented household influenced by his mother, a school music teacher, and his father, a church pastor. He began playing piano, drums, and guitar at a young age while singing in his local church choir. Lawson attended Catholic school before transferring to a public high school in Cranston and later enrolled at the Community College of Rhode Island. After a year and a half of higher education, he chose to drop out to dedicate his efforts full-time to music production and songwriting.

Career

Lawson's career accelerated during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns when he began uploading short music videos and song mashups to TikTok alongside his mother. His debut single, "Upside Down," became a viral sensation in 2021, generating millions of user videos and leading to a high-profile remix featuring singer Charlie Puth. In July 2022, Lawson released his breakthrough pop ballad "Golden Hour," which peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top 20 on the UK Singles Chart. He released his debut studio album, This Is What ____ Feels Like (Vol. 1–4), in late 2022, which charted on the Billboard 200.

Personal life

Lawson collaborates frequently with his older brother Zac Lawson, who co-writes and produces much of his catalog under the moniker ZVC. Known for maintaining a strong personal faith and family connection, Lawson married his partner, Georgia, in September 2024.
