Hill came to national prominence as Charlie Young, the personal aide to President Bartlet, on Aaron Sorkin’s acclaimed drama “The West Wing” (1999–2006), for which the ensemble won multiple Screen Actors Guild Awards and he received an individual Emmy nomination.

He then spent eight seasons as Gus, the fastidious best friend and reluctant sidekick, on the USA Network hit “Psych” (2006–2014), a role that showcased his comic timing and made the show a cult favourite.

On “Suits,” Hill joined the cast as the sharp attorney Alex Williams in the show’s later seasons (2017–2019), adding to a résumé of memorable television roles. He later starred as the patriarch Bill Williams in the reimagined “The Wonder Years” (2021–2023).
