Miriam Shor

Miriam Shor is an American actress born on July 25, 1971. She first gained widespread recognition for her stage performance in the Off-Broadway musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, as well as its 2001 feature film adaptation. She is also widely recognized for portraying Diana Trout in the comedy-drama television series Younger. Over the course of her career, Shor has established a diverse body of work across theater, television, and film.

Raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Shor grew up with a Jewish father and spent her youth living in both the United States and Italy. Her international upbringing allowed her to become fluent in both Italian and Yiddish. She pursued higher education at the University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama.

Following her studies, Shor moved to New York City to start her professional acting career. After originating the role of Yitzhak on stage in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, she reprised the performance on screen in 2000 and 2001. Throughout the 2000s, she landed main roles on series such as Then Came You, Inside Schwartz, Big Day, and Swingtown. She also took supporting roles in films like Bedazzled, Shortbus, and The Cake Eaters, alongside guest appearances on shows including The West Wing, My Name Is Earl, Damages, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Mildred Pierce.

In 2012, Shor starred in the series GCB and secured a recurring role on The Good Wife. She achieved further mainstream success starting in 2015 when she was cast as a regular on Younger, a show she remained with until 2021 and for which she made her directorial debut. During this period, she also performed as Madelaine True in the 2015 New York City Center production of The Wild Party alongside Sutton Foster.

Shor continued to build a prominent screen resume with roles in the final season of The Americans and the drama film Lost Girls. She took on her first leading film role in Magic Hour and subsequently appeared in feature films including Good Morning, Midnight, Maestro, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and American Fiction. Her later television work includes appearances in And Just Like That... and a recurring role in Pluribus. Expanding into filmmaking, she co-directed and produced the documentary My NDA with Juliane Dressner for a 2026 festival premiere.

Shor has received industry recognition for her work, earning nominations for a Critics' Choice Television Award for Younger, a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of The Americans ensemble, and a Primetime Emmy Award for Pluribus. In her personal life, she is married to actor Justin Hagan, with whom she has two daughters, Ruby and Iris.
