Corey Stoll

Corey Daniel Stoll is an American actor widely recognized for his work across television, film, and theater. He gained significant prominence for portraying Congressman Peter Russo in the first season of the political drama series House of Cards, as well as Dr. Ephraim Goodweather in the horror drama series The Strain. Stoll is also known for playing corporate competitor Michael Prince on the Showtime series Billions and LAPD Detective Tomas Jaruszalski on Law & Order: LA.

Born on Manhattan's Upper West Side in New York City, Stoll is the son of Judith and Stephen Stoll, who co-founded The Beacon School. Raised Jewish, he studied performance at Long Lake Camp for the Arts between 1988 and 1992 before attending Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. He earned a degree from Oberlin College in 1998 and later completed New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Acting Program in 2003.

Stoll began his professional stage career on Broadway in 2003 in a revival of Henry IV. The following year, his performance in the off-Broadway production of Intimate Apparel earned him a Drama Desk Award nomination. He returned to Broadway in 2007 in Old Acquaintance and participated in another revival, A View from the Bridge, in 2010. During this period, he also appeared in numerous motion pictures, including North Country, Lucky Number Slevin, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, Push, Helena from the Wedding, and Salt.

His breakthrough in film came in 2011 with his portrayal of author Ernest Hemingway in Midnight in Paris, a performance that earned him a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award. Two years later, his work on House of Cards garnered a Golden Globe Award nomination. Subsequently, Stoll took on leading television roles, including starring in The Strain starting in 2014 and appearing in projects such as Non-Stop, This Is Where I Leave You, and Dark Places.

In 2015, Stoll joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Darren Cross, also known as Yellowjacket, in the superhero feature Ant-Man, later reprising his role as M.O.D.O.K. in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2023. His other film credits include Black Mass, Café Society, First Man, The Seagull, The Many Saints of Newark, and West Side Story. Alongside his film work, he performed in Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida at Central Park in 2016.

From 2020 through 2023, Stoll portrayed Michael Prince in Billions while also securing recurring roles in television series like Ratched. He returned to the Broadway stage in 2023 in the play Appropriate, receiving a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play. He also co-starred in an off-Broadway revival of What Happened Was... at the Minetta Lane Theatre.
