Michel Gill

Michel Gill, sometimes credited as Michael Gill, is an American performer. He is widely recognized for his television roles, notably portraying President Garrett Walker in the Netflix political drama series House of Cards and Gideon Goddard in the suspense drama series Mr. Robot.

Gill was born in the United States on April 16, 1960. He is a first-generation American raised by Jewish parents who had escaped the Holocaust. French was his first spoken language during his childhood.

His academic journey began at Aiglon College, a well-known boarding institution located in Switzerland. Following his time there, he enrolled at Tufts University. He later transferred to the Juilliard School as part of Group 14, earning his degree from the institution in 1985.

Over the course of his acting career, Gill built a profile through major television projects. His performance as Garrett Walker in House of Cards brought him widespread recognition, which was further complemented by his recurring work as Gideon Goddard on Mr. Robot.

In his personal life, Gill is married to actress Jayne Atkinson, who portrayed Secretary of State Catherine Durant alongside him in House of Cards. The couple originally met while performing together in a stage production of The Heiress at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. They started dating in 1992, wed in 1998, and currently live in the Berkshires with their son.
