Laufey

Laufey is an Icelandic singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has become one of the defining voices of a new, jazz-inflected pop. Born Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir in Reykjavík on April 23, 1999, she grew up between two cultures — her father is Icelandic and her mother is from Guangzhou, China — and between two musical worlds, classical and jazz. A cellist as well as a pianist, guitarist and vocalist, she performed as a cello soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at just fifteen before studying at the Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2021.

Her sound blends jazz, traditional pop and classical songwriting into something warm and unmistakably her own. Her debut album Everything I Know About Love (2022) was followed by Bewitched (2023) and A Matter of Time (2025), while songs such as From the Start, Lover Girl, Goddess and Silver Lining introduced her to a vast, largely young audience that grew rapidly online.

The acclaim has been matched by major recognition. Laufey won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Bewitched at the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024, and won the category again for A Matter of Time at the 68th Grammy Awards in 2026. In 2025 she was named one of Time magazine’s Women of the Year, and in January 2026 she was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Falcon by the President of Iceland. She was also announced among the headliners for Coachella 2026.

With sold-out tours, a devoted global following and a rare ability to make orchestral jazz feel current, Laufey has established herself as one of the most distinctive artists of her era. She first built her following by sharing songs online during her years at Berklee, and has since become a rare young artist carrying jazz standards and lush orchestral arrangements to arena stages and streaming-era audiences alike. This profile will be updated as new music and performances are announced.
