Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B has officially been named the first-ever recipient of Billboard Canada's Global Woman of the Year award. The historic honor was formally announced on October 16, 2026, recognizing the chart-topping artist's widespread international influence, record-breaking commercial success, and enduring impact across the global music landscape. Cardi B is set to receive the award in person during the Billboard Canada Women in Music 2026 gala, which will take place on November 24 at the Rebel waterfront venue in Toronto, Ontario.

Since making her massive mainstream breakthrough with her 2017 chart-topping single "Bodak Yellow," Cardi B has established herself as one of the most commercially successful and influential hip-hop artists of her generation. She previously made history as the first female rapper to earn multiple Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, as well as the first solo female artist to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album for her critically acclaimed 2018 debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy. Her impressive record includes numerous diamond certifications from the RIAA and dozens of entries across international music charts.

Her recent achievements in Canada further solidify her position as a dominant force in modern pop culture. Throughout her career, Cardi B has placed 46 songs on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, including eight top-10 hits. The award announcement comes on the heels of her sold-out Little Miss Drama tour, which saw her headline major arena venues across North America. Her Canadian tour dates included high-profile performances at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, as well as a record-setting headlining performance at TD Coliseum in Hamilton.

Beyond her chart achievements, Cardi B continues to maintain a formidable presence in fashion, entertainment, and digital culture. Known for her candid personality, signature fashion choices, and engaging digital platform, she previously received Billboard’s overall Woman of the Year award in 2020. Her latest accolade from Billboard Canada highlights her evolving global legacy as a pioneer for female hip-hop performers.

The upcoming November celebration in Toronto will gather top executives, creators, and international recording artists to honor female leadership throughout the music industry. Organizers confirmed that Cardi B will serve as the featured guest of honor during the evening, delivering an acceptance speech alongside live showcase performances by emerging Canadian and international talent.
