Swae Lee

Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown, known professionally as Swae Lee, is an American rapper and singer from Inglewood, California. He is recognized for his wide-ranged, reverb-heavy vocals and genre-blending style, performing both as a solo artist and as one half of the hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd alongside his brother Slim Jxmmi. Brown has stated that he considers himself more of a singer than a rapper, gaining widespread recognition for writing vocal hooks and melodies.

Brown was born on June 7, 1993, and raised in Tupelo, Mississippi, by a single mother who worked on tanks in the United States Army. He began creating music in high school with his brother and local rapper Lil Pantz in a group named Dem Outta St8 Boyz. After graduating high school, Brown and his brother experienced a period of homelessness, during which they squatted in an abandoned house.

In 2010, Brown and his brother formed Rae Sremmurd, signing with EarDrummer Records in 2013. The duo released three top-ten Billboard 200 albums: SremmLife (2015), SremmLife 2 (2016), and SR3MM (2018). Their joint releases spawned major singles including "No Flex Zone," "No Type," and the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "Black Beatles," featuring Gucci Mane.

Brown began appearing as a solo feature in 2015 on tracks by Mike Will Made It and Wiz Khalifa. In 2017, he received a Grammy Award nomination for co-writing Beyoncé's single "Formation" and earned his first top-ten solo entry with French Montana's RIAA diamond-certified single "Unforgettable." In May 2018, Brown released his debut solo studio album, Swaecation, as part of Rae Sremmurd's triple-album package SR3MM.

Later in 2018, Brown featured on Travis Scott's number-one single "Sicko Mode" and released "Sunflower" with Post Malone for the film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. "Sunflower" topped the Billboard Hot 100, earned two Grammy nominations, and became the first song in RIAA history to achieve double diamond certification. During this period, he also recorded successful tracks with Ellie Goulding, Diplo, Madonna, Drake, and Kane Brown.

In October 2020, Brown invested in the esports organization XSET. After years of recording, he released his second solo studio album, Same Difference, on April 4, 2026. In his personal life, Brown has two children and has spoken publicly about having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which informed Rae Sremmurd's 2023 release "ADHD Anthem (Too Many Emotions)."
