Rod Wave

Rodarius Marcell Green, born August 27, 1998, and known professionally as Rod Wave, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter signed to Alamo Records. Recognized as a pioneer of "trap-soul," Green is known for incorporating hip hop and R&B with a strong voice and soulful delivery. He has achieved major commercial success, ranking among the highest certified artists in the United States with 65 million digital copies sold.

Green was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. During elementary school at Lakewood Elementary, his parents divorced, and his father was incarcerated. Facing financial difficulties, Green became involved in juvenile centers and street activities. However, he also sang in the All-State Elementary Chorus in 2009 and 2010 and performed at Lakewood High School. Upon release from jail, his father encouraged him to pursue music, buying him a microphone while his brother bought a computer. His father and Derek Lane eventually formed Hit House Entertainment to support Green before he signed with Alamo Records in 2018.

Green launched his career in 2015 with Rookie of the Year and his Hunger Games mixtape series. In 2019, he released the mixtape PTSD, containing the viral single "Heart on Ice," which peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. After touring as a supporting act for Kevin Gates, Green released his debut studio album, Ghetto Gospel (2019), peaking at number 10 on the Billboard 200. His second album, Pray 4 Love (2020), reached number two on the chart and featured the single "Rags2Riches."

In March 2021, Green released his third album, SoulFly, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned top-20 singles "Street Runner" and "Tombstone." His fourth album, Beautiful Mind (2022), also debuted atop the Billboard 200, followed by the EP Jupiter's Diary: 7 Day Theory, which peaked at number nine. In September 2023, Green released his fifth album, Nostalgia, securing his third consecutive number-one album. He followed with his sixth album, Last Lap, in October 2024, debuting at number two.

Green's career includes soundtrack work, such as the 2025 single "Sinners," and a confirmed project release titled Don't Look Down scheduled for August 2026. He has earned nominations for a Grammy Award, American Music Award, Billboard Music Award, and iHeartRadio Music Award. Artistically, he draws from hip hop figures like Tupac Shakur and Kevin Gates, as well as vocalists like Adele and Ed Sheeran. His record of consecutive top-ten albums from 2019 to 2024 established him as a prominent figure in contemporary music.
