Travis Scott

Jacques Bermon Webster II, known professionally as Travis Scott, is an American rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer born on April 30, 1991. He is known for his dynamic live performances, fashion, and an eclectic musical style influenced by artists such as Kanye West and Kid Cudi. Over his career, Scott has earned six number-one albums on the Billboard 200, five number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and more than one hundred charting songs.

Born in Houston, Texas, Scott lived with his grandmother in South Park, Houston, until age six before moving to Missouri City, Texas, to live with his parents. Raised in a family with musical ties—his father was a soul musician and his grandfather a jazz composer—he attended Elkins High School, where he participated in musical theater. He later attended the University of Texas at San Antonio before dropping out during his second year to pursue music. His stage name combines the name of a favorite uncle and the first name of Kid Cudi.

Scott began his career forming musical duos, first as The Graduates in 2008 and later as The Classmates from 2009 to 2012. After brief stays in New York City and Los Angeles, he caught the attention of rapper T.I. In 2012, Scott signed a major-label deal with Epic Records and a publishing deal as an in-house producer with Kanye West's GOOD Music. The following year, he entered a joint venture with T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records and released his debut mixtape, Owl Pharaoh, followed by the mixtape Days Before Rodeo in 2014.

In 2015, Scott released his debut studio album, Rodeo, featuring the single "Antidote." His second album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016), became his first number-one album on the Billboard 200. In 2017, Scott launched his record label, Cactus Jack Records, and released a collaborative album, Jack Huncho, as part of the duo Huncho Jack with rapper Quavo. His 2018 album, Astroworld, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and contained the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "Sicko Mode."

Scott's successful releases continued with the Cactus Jack compilation JackBoys (2019) and the studio album Utopia (2023), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 alongside his co-directed short film Circus Maximus. His major project releases also include the chart-topping single "4x4" and the collaborative project JackBoys 2. Outside of recording, Scott's Cactus Jack label has expanded into hosting events like CactusCon, and he has entered high-profile brand collaborations with companies including Nike, Dior, Audemars Piguet, and McDonald's.

Scott has received numerous industry accolades, including a Latin Grammy Award, a Billboard Music Award, an MTV Video Music Award, several BET Hip Hop Awards, and ten Grammy Award nominations. His career has also involved public controversy and legal matters surrounding concert safety, notably following a mass-casualty crowd crush during his Astroworld Festival in November 2021.
