Mia Goth

Mia Gypsy Mello da Silva Goth, born on 25 October 1993, is a British actress and model. After modelling as a teenager, she made her acting debut in the 2013 erotic drama Nymphomaniac. She gained recognition in films such as A Cure for Wellness (2016), High Life (2018), Suspiria (2018), and Emma (2020). Goth achieved a major career breakthrough playing Maxine Minx and Pearl in the X film series (2022–2024), establishing her as a prominent scream queen.

Goth was born at Guy's Hospital in London to a Brazilian mother and a Canadian father. Her maternal grandfather is American artist Lee Jaffe, and her grandmother is Brazilian actress Maria Gladys. She moved to Brazil as an infant before returning to the United Kingdom at age five. After briefly relocating to Canada at age ten, where she attended nine schools in one year, she settled in southeast London with her mother, who raised her as a single parent working as a waitress.

At age 13, photographer Gemma Booth discovered Goth, signing her to Storm Model Management. She subsequently modeled for brands like Miu Miu and Prada and appeared in magazines including Vogue and Dazed. After auditioning for films starting at age 15, Goth secured her debut acting role in Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac (2013). She followed this with television appearances in The Tunnel and Wallander, as well as the short film Magpie (2014) and feature films like The Survivalist (2015) and Everest (2015).

In 2016, Goth appeared in the horror film A Cure for Wellness, followed by supporting roles in Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria (2018) and Claire Denis's High Life (2018). She also appeared in the short film The Staggering Girl (2019), the romantic comedy Emma (2020), and the action drama Mayday (2021).

Goth's breakthrough arrived with Ti West's slasher film X (2022), in which she played both Maxine Minx and Pearl. She co-wrote and starred in the prequel Pearl (2022), earning critical acclaim and a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead Performance. She later starred in Brandon Cronenberg's Infinity Pool (2023) and reprised her role as Maxine in MaXXXine (2024).

Goth subsequently performed double roles in Guillermo del Toro's horror film Frankenstein (2025), appeared in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey (2026), and was cast in Star Wars: Starfighter (2027). In her personal life, Goth speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish. She shares a daughter, born in March 2022, with actor Shia LaBeouf, from whom she filed for divorce in October 2026.
