Stacy Martin

Stacy Martin is a French actress born on 20 March 1990. She is best known for her feature film performances in various international productions, including her screen debut in the 2013 film Nymphomaniac.

Martin was born in Paris, where she spent her early childhood. When she was seven years old, she moved to Tokyo with her French father, René Martin, who worked as a hairstylist, and her English mother, Annette. She lived in Tokyo until the age of thirteen, at which point she returned to Paris. After finishing her schooling, Martin relocated to London to study Media and Cultural Studies at the University of the Arts London's College of Communication, modeling on the side. She also trained in acting by studying the Meisner technique at the Actors' Temple.

Martin made her acting debut in 2013 starring as Young Joe, aged 15 to 31, in the drama film Nymphomaniac. For her performance in the film, which featured unsimulated sex, she used a prosthetic vagina and a body double. Her work in the role earned her nominations for Best Actress from two Danish organizations, the Robert Awards and the Bodil Awards. In 2014, she was recognized by BAFTA as part of their Breakthrough Brits initiative honoring emerging talents.

In addition to her acting work, Martin pursued modeling projects. She appeared as part of the Rag & Bone Spring 2014 campaign, as well as the Miu Miu Fall/Winter campaigns in 2014 and 2015. She was also chosen to serve as the face for the launch of Miu Miu's first fragrance.

Following her debut, Martin appeared in numerous feature film projects. In 2015, she played Faye in High-Rise and Young Dora in Tale of Tales. She went on to take on lead roles in films such as Redoubtable in 2017, Amanda in 2018, and both The Evening Hour and Lovers in 2020. Her supporting film credits include All the Money in the World in 2017, The Night House in 2020, and The Testament of Ann Lee in 2025.

Martin has established a frequent collaboration with filmmaker Brady Corbet, appearing in his films The Childhood of a Leader in 2015, Vox Lux in 2018, and The Brutalist in 2024. On television, she is known for her supporting role playing Juliette Voclain in the 2021 BBC One crime drama miniseries The Serpent.
