Cosmo Jarvis

Harrison Cosmo Krikoryan-Jarvis, born in 1989 or 1990, is a British actor and former singer-songwriter. Born in New Jersey to a British father and an Armenian-American mother, he relocated to Great Britain as an infant and was brought up in Totnes, Devon, alongside his mother and younger brother. Reflecting on his background, he has noted a lack of personal attachment to any specific geographical origin due to leaving the United States as a baby.

Jarvis initially established his career in music. He directed the video for his 2011 single "Gay Pirates," which gained media recognition and charted on Australia's Triple J Hottest 100 list. He released the album Is the World Strange or Am I Strange? followed by Think Bigger in 2012. Around this period, he wrote and directed his debut feature film, The Naughty Room, which premiered on BBC Four in 2012 and featured his music. He toured the United Kingdom, penned songs for other acts, and had tracks featured in the 2013 comedy film Hawk(e): The Movie. Though he re-released an expanded edition of Think Bigger in 2020 featuring remastered tracks and bonus recordings, Jarvis confirmed in 2025 that he had retired from making music.

His shift toward acting accelerated in 2015 when he was cast as Sebastian in the feature film Lady Macbeth. He subsequently performed in theater productions directed by Richard Jones, including a 2017 production of Eugene O'Neill's The Hairy Ape in New York and The Twilight Zone in London. Jarvis earned notable acclaim in 2019 for his lead performance in the independent film Calm with Horses, released in the United States as The Shadow of Violence. His portrayal earned him nominations for Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards and from the London Film Critics' Circle.

Jarvis expanded his television and film resume with a guest role in the fifth season of Peaky Blinders, alongside appearances in Nocturnal, Funny Face, The Evening Hour, and Raised by Wolves. He later starred opposite Dakota Johnson in Netflix's 2022 film adaptation of Persuasion. His performance in the drama It Is In Us All earned him a nomination for Best Lead Performance at the British Independent Film Awards, as well as a nomination for Best International Actor at the Irish Film and Television Awards.

In 2024, Jarvis achieved widespread public recognition playing John Blackthorne in the FX historical drama series Shōgun opposite Hiroyuki Sanada, earning critical praise for his performance and later agreeing to return for the series' second season. In 2025, he appeared in the prison drama Inside, the mob film The Alto Knights alongside Robert De Niro, and the film Warfare, where his role as Navy SEAL veteran Elliot Miller drew critical praise. His further projects included casting announcements for Wife & Dog, Young Stalin, and Paul Greengrass's historical film The Uprising.

In his personal life, Jarvis is married, has one child, has type 1 diabetes, and has maintained sobriety since 2019. He avoids social media and modern political involvement, and has publicly discussed the historical memory and recognition of the Armenian genocide.
