His career trajectory shifted when his mother encouraged him to pursue show business, leading him to join the entertainment agency Stardust Promotion after passing an audition.
Kubota made his acting debut in 2006, starring in the Fuji Television late-night series Chekeraccho! in Tokyo, and appearing in his first film, Humoresque. In 2020, Kubota took on the lead role in the first half of the Asadora series Yell, marking the first male lead in an Asadora broadcast since 2014.
Throughout his career, Kubota has received formal industry recognition. He was awarded Newcomer of the Year at the 2021 Elan d'or Awards for his achievements in the preceding year. Subsequently, he won the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 46th Japan Academy Film Prize in 2022 for his role in the feature film A Man.
