Post Malone

Austin Richard Post, known professionally as Post Malone, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, record producer, and actor. Born on July 4, 1995, in Syracuse, New York, he was raised by his father and stepmother. His father introduced him to various genres, including hip-hop, country, and rock. At age nine, his family relocated to Grapevine, Texas. Malone initially taught himself guitar through the video game series Guitar Hero and began his early musical ventures playing guitar in local high school bands, including Ashley's Arrival and Love In Colors.

After brief studies at Tarrant County College, Malone dropped out and moved to Los Angeles with friend Jason Probst. In Los Angeles, he formed the group BLCKVRD and collaborated with record producers FKi 1st, Sauce Lord Rich, and Rex Kudo. He chose his stage name using a rap name generator when he was 14 or 15. In February 2015, Malone uploaded his breakout cloud rap single "White Iverson" to SoundCloud. The song gained widespread recognition, leading him to sign a record deal with Republic Records in August 2015. He subsequently released the mixtape August 26th and made his national television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2016.

Malone released his debut studio album, Stoney, in December 2016. The project yielded the hit single "Congratulations" featuring Quavo. His second album, Beerbongs & Bentleys (2018), debuted atop the US Billboard 200, broke first-day streaming records on Spotify, and featured the Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Rockstar" (featuring 21 Savage) and "Psycho" (featuring Ty Dolla Sign). Late in 2018, Malone collaborated with Swae Lee on the single "Sunflower" for the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The track became the first song in RIAA history to earn a 2× Diamond certification.

In September 2019, Malone released his third album, Hollywood's Bleeding, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. It produced the single "Circles", which spent 61 weeks on the Hot 100. His fourth album, Twelve Carat Toothache (2022), and fifth album, Austin (2023), both reached number two on the Billboard 200. In 2024, Malone achieved two additional Hot 100 number-one hits with his feature on Taylor Swift's "Fortnight" and his joint country pop single "I Had Some Help" featuring Morgan Wallen. "I Had Some Help" served as the lead track for his sixth album and country music debut, F-1 Trillion (2024), which became his third Billboard 200 number-one album.

Malone is among the best-selling music artists, having sold over 150 million records in the United States. His achievements include eleven Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, six MTV Video Music Awards, and eighteen Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year nods for Beerbongs & Bentleys and Hollywood's Bleeding. He holds the record as the first solo lead artist to top both the Rap Airplay and Adult Contemporary charts. As of 2025, he holds nine RIAA Diamond-certified songs, ranking second overall behind Drake.
