Olympic legend Lindsey Vonn has officially been named to the 49-athlete U.S. Alpine Ski Team roster for the 2026-27 season. U.S. Ski & Snowboard confirmed the announcement as part of its national team selection heading into the upcoming FIS Alpine Ski World Cup campaign. Vonn qualified for the roster based on established competitive criteria, maintaining her standing inside the top 25 of the FIS World Cup Start List.
The inclusion comes as Vonn continues her long-term rehabilitation process following a serious crash during the downhill competition at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The high-speed incident required multiple surgical procedures to stabilize her leg before she was able to return to the United States to continue her medical treatment and physical therapy. U.S. Ski & Snowboard noted that while Vonn has earned her spot on the squad, her return timeline to active racing remains open as she completes her physical recovery.
Over the course of her storied athletic career, Vonn has cemented her legacy as one of the most successful alpine skiers in winter sports history. Her resume includes three Olympic medals, four overall World Cup titles, and 84 individual World Cup race victories. Known for her dominance in speed events like downhill and super-G, she has spent decades competing at the highest international level while representing the United States across five Olympic Winter Games.
Team officials expressed confidence in the national roster as athletes prepare for a demanding World Championship season. The U.S. squad features a mix of world champions and rising contenders training at the Center of Excellence in Utah. For Vonn, being named to the official roster marks a significant landmark on her road to recovery as fans and teammates follow her progress.
